¹ พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า

² "จงกล่าวแก่อาโรนว่า เมื่อจะตั้งตะเกียงให้ตะเกียงทั้งเจ็ดส่องแสงข้างหน้าคันประทีป"

³ และอาโรนได้กระทำดังนั้น ท่านได้ตั้งตะเกียงให้ส่องแสงออกด้านหน้าคันประทีป ตามที่พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสสั่งกับโมเสส

⁴ ฝีมือที่ทำคันประทีปเป็นดังนี้ เป็นทองคำใช้ค้อนทุบ ตั้งแต่ฐานขึ้นไปถึงดอกเป็นฝีค้อน ตามแบบอย่างที่พระเยโฮวาห์สำแดงแก่โมเสส เขาจึงทำคันประทีปดังนั้น

⁵ และพระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า

⁶ "จงยกคนเลวีออกจากคนอิสราเอลและชำระเขาทั้งหลายเสีย

⁷ เจ้าจงชำระเขาดังนี้ จงเอาน้ำชำระมาประพรมเขา ให้เขาโกนตลอดทั้งตัว ให้ซักเสื้อผ้าและชำระตัวให้สะอาด

⁸ แล้วให้เขาทั้งหลายนำวัวหนุ่มตัวหนึ่ง กับเครื่องธัญญบูชาคู่กัน คือยอดแป้งคลุกน้ำมัน และเจ้าจงนำวัวหนุ่มอีกตัวหนึ่งเป็นเครื่องบูชาไถ่บาป

⁹ แล้วจงพาคนเลวีมาหน้าพลับพลาแห่งชุมนุม และให้คนอิสราเอลมาชุมนุมพร้อมกันหมด

¹⁰ เมื่อเจ้านำคนเลวีมากราบทูลต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ ให้คนอิสราเอลเอามือของเขาวางบนคนเลวี

¹¹ และให้อาโรนถวายคนเลวีต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ให้เป็นเครื่องบูชาแกว่งถวายจากประชาชนอิสราเอล เพื่อเขาจะได้ทำงานปรนนิบัติพระเยโฮวาห์

¹² แล้วคนเลวีจะเอามือของตนวางบนหัววัวผู้ทั้งสอง เจ้าจงเอาตัวหนึ่งมาถวายเป็นเครื่องบูชาไถ่บาป และอีกตัวหนึ่งให้เป็นเครื่องเผาบูชาแด่พระเยโฮวาห์ เพื่อลบมลทินบาปของคนเลวี

¹³ เจ้าจงตั้งคนเลวีให้คอยรับใช้อาโรนและบุตรชายทั้งหลายของอาโรน และจงถวายเขาทั้งหลายให้เป็นเครื่องบูชาแกว่งถวายแด่พระเยโฮวาห์

¹⁴ ฉะนี้แหละเจ้าจงแยกคนเลวีออกจากคนอิสราเอล และคนเลวีจะเป็นของเรา

¹⁵ ตั้งแต่นั้นไปคนเลวีจะเข้าปฏิบัติงานที่พลับพลาแห่งชุมนุม ในเมื่อเจ้าได้ชำระเขาและกระทำเป็นเครื่องบูชาแกว่งถวายเขาไว้แล้ว

¹⁶ เพราะเขาทั้งหมดถูกแยกออกจากคนอิสราเอล และมอบไว้แก่เรา เราได้รับเขามาเป็นของเราแล้วแทนทุกคนที่เกิดจากครรภ์มารดาก่อนคือ แทนบุตรหัวปีของประชาชนอิสราเอลทั้งหมด

¹⁷ เพราะว่าลูกหัวปีทั้งหมดของคนอิสราเอลเป็นของเรา ทั้งคนและสัตว์ ในวันที่เราได้สังหารบรรดาลูกหัวปีในแผ่นดินอียิปต์ เราได้เลือกเขาไว้เป็นของเรา

¹⁸ และเราได้เลือกคนเลวีแทนบุตรหัวปีทั้งหมดของคนอิสราเอล

¹⁹ และเราได้ให้คนเลวีจากคนอิสราเอลไว้กับอาโรนและบุตรชายของอาโรน ให้ปฏิบัติงานแทนคนอิสราเอลที่พลับพลาแห่งชุมนุม และทำการลบมลทินให้คนอิสราเอล เพื่อว่าจะไม่มีภัยพิบัติบังเกิดแก่คนอิสราเอล เมื่อคนอิสราเอลเข้ามาใกล้สถานบริสุทธิ์"

²⁰ โมเสสและอาโรนและชุมนุมชนอิสราเอลทั้งหมดได้กระทำต่อคนเลวีดังนั้น ตามที่พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสสั่งโมเสสในเรื่องคนเลวีทุกประการ คนอิสราเอลก็กระทำดังนั้น

²¹ คนเลวีได้ชำระตนให้สิ้นบาป และซักเสื้อผ้าของตน และอาโรนก็ถวายเขาเป็นเครื่องบูชาแกว่งถวายต่อพระพักตร์พระเยโฮวาห์ และอาโรนทำการลบมลทินชำระเขา

²² แต่นั้นมาคนเลวีก็เข้าไปปฏิบัติในพลับพลาแห่งชุมนุม ในการรับใช้อาโรนและบุตรชายของอาโรน ตามที่พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสสั่งโมเสสเรื่องคนเลวี เขาจึงได้กระทำอย่างนั้นแก่เขาทั้งหลาย

²³ พระเยโฮวาห์ตรัสกับโมเสสว่า

²⁴ "เรื่องนี้เกี่ยวกับคนเลวี ให้คนเลวีที่มีอายุตั้งแต่ยี่สิบห้าปีขึ้นไป เข้าไปปฏิบัติงานในพลับพลาแห่งชุมนุม

²⁵ พออายุได้ห้าสิบปีให้เขาหยุดปฏิบัติ ไม่ต้องทำงานต่อไป

²⁶ แต่ให้เขาช่วยพี่น้องในพลับพลาแห่งชุมนุมดูแลการงาน ไม่ต้องลงมือทำเอง เจ้าจงกระทำเช่นนี้แก่คนเลวีเมื่อกำหนดงานให้เขา"

²³ He made the molten sea of ten cubits from brim to brim, round in compass, and its height was five cubits; and a line of thirty cubits encircled it.

²⁴ Under its brim around there were buds which encircled it, for ten cubits, encircling the sea: the buds were in two rows, cast when it was cast.

²⁵ It stood on twelve oxen, three looking toward the north, and three looking toward the west, and three looking toward the south, and three looking toward the east; and the sea was set on them above, and all their hinder parts were inward.

²⁶ It was a handbreadth thick: and its brim was worked like the brim of a cup, like the flower of a lily: it held two thousand baths.

²⁷ He made the ten bases of brass; four cubits was the length of one base, and four cubits its breadth, and three cubits its height.

²⁸ The work of the bases was like this: they had panels; and there were panels between the ledges;

²⁹ and on the panels that were between the ledges were lions, oxen, and cherubim; and on the ledges there was a pedestal above; and beneath the lions and oxen were wreaths of hanging work.

³⁰ Every base had four bronze wheels, and axles of brass; and the four feet of it had supports: beneath the basin were the supports molten, with wreaths at the side of each.

³¹ The mouth of it within the capital and above was a cubit: and its mouth was round after the work of a pedestal, a cubit and a half; and also on its mouth were engravings, and their panels were foursquare, not round.

³² The four wheels were underneath the panels; and the axles of the wheels were in the base: and the height of a wheel was a cubit and half a cubit.

³³ The work of the wheels was like the work of a chariot wheel: their axles, and their rims, and their spokes, and their naves, were all molten.

³⁴ There were four supports at the four corners of each base: its supports were of the base itself.

³⁵ In the top of the base was there a round compass half a cubit high; and on the top of the base its stays and its panels were of the same.

³⁶ On the plates of its stays, and on its panels, he engraved cherubim, lions, and palm trees, according to the space of each, with wreaths all around.

³⁷ In this way, he made the ten bases: all of them had one casting, one measure, and one form.

³⁸ He made ten basins of brass: one basin contained forty baths; and every basin was four cubits; and on every one of the ten bases one basin.

³⁹ He set the bases, five on the right side of the house, and five on the left side of the house: and he set the sea on the right side of the house eastward, toward the south.
