(Genesis 15:5) And He led him forth abroad, and said, Look now toward heaven, and number the stars, if thou be able to number them; and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be. “He led him forth abroad,” signifies the sight of the interior man which from external things sees internal; “and said, Look now toward heaven,” signifies a representation of the Lord’s kingdom in a mental view of the universe; “and number the stars,” signifies a representation of things good and true in a mental view of the constellations; “if thou canst number them,” signifies the fruitfulness of love and the multiplication of faith; “and He said unto him, So shall thy seed be,” signifies the heirs of the Lord’s kingdom.
