3 โมเสสจึงกล่าวแก่ประชาชนว่า "จงระลึกถึงวันนี้ที่ท่านทั้งหลายออกมาจากอียิปต์ จากเรือนทาส เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงนำท่านทั้งหลายออกจากที่นั่นด้วยฤทธิ์พระหัตถ์ อย่ากินขนมปังที่มีเชื้อเลย

8 แต่เพราะพระเยโฮวาห์ทรงรักท่านทั้งหลาย และพระองค์ทรงรักษาคำปฏิญาณซึ่งพระองค์ทรงปฏิญาณไว้กับบรรพบุรุษของท่านทั้งหลาย พระเยโฮวาห์จึงทรงพาท่านทั้งหลายออกมาด้วยพระหัตถ์อันทรงฤทธิ์ และทรงไถ่ท่านทั้งหลายให้พ้นจากเรือนทาส จากหัตถ์ฟาโรห์กษัตริย์อียิปต์
