9 När kananéerna och landets alla övriga inbyggare få höra detta, skola de omringa oss och utrota till och med vårt namn från jorden. Vad vill du då göra för ditt stora namns ära?»

Terah

In Genesis 11:24, Terah, Abraham's father, as a nation represents idolatrous worship. (Arcana Coelestia 1353)

In Genesis 11:31, when Terah leaves Ur for Haran, partway to Canaan, it signifies that people who were in idolatrous worship were instructed in the celestial and spiritual things of faith, so that a representative church could arise from them. (Arcana Coelestia 1373)

In Joshua 24:2, it notes that Terah served other gods. In Arcana Coelestia 5628[2] there are interesting details about this. Abraham's ancestors worshipped 'God Shaddai', which name connotes temptations and, after hardship, comfort.
