Blind

The Parable of the Blind Leading the Blind, by Abel Grimmer

The meaning of “blind” in the Bible is not hard to see (no pun intended!). If light represents the flow of truthful ideas from the Lord and “seeing” is understanding those concepts and regarding the world from them, it follows that blindness would be the inability to receive and understand that truth. That’s an idea that has spilled over into modern language; we might speak of someone being “blind to the truth” or “blind to the possibilities” of a new approach to a problem. We mainly see two different kinds of blindness. One represents people who are simply ignorant of truth. The other represents people who have truth available but have immersed themselves in falsities instead; this is a dangerous and ultimately hellish state.
