That this signifies that they must be banished from the natural man, is evident from the signification of “dividing,” as being separation and removal from truth and good (see n. 4424), thus banishment; and from the representation of Jacob, as being the natural or external man (n. 3305, 3576, 4286, 4292, 4570, 6236).
