¹ ထာဝရဘုရားသည်လည်း အာဗြံကို ခေါ်တော်မူ၍၊ သင်၏ပြည်နှင့်တကွ အမျိုးသားချင်းပေါက်ဘော် များထဲက ထွက်ပြီးလျှင်၊ ငါပြလတံ့သော ပြည်သို့ သွားလော့။

² ငါသည် သင့်ကို လူမျိုးကြီးဖြစ်စေမည်။ ငါ ကောင်းကြီးပေး၍ သင်၏နာမကို ကြီးမြတ်စေမည်။ သင် သည် ကောင်းကြီးခံရသောသူ ဖြစ်လိမ့်မည်။

³ သင့်ကို ကောင်းကြီးပေးသောသူကို ငါကောင်းကြီးပေးမည်။ သင့်ကို ကျိန်ဆဲသောသူကို ငါကျိန်ဆဲမည်။ သင်အားဖြင့်လည်း လူမျိုးအပေါင်းတို့သည် ကောင်းကြီးမင်္ဂလာကို ခံရကြလိမ့်မည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။

⁴ ထိုသို့ ထာဝရဘုရား မိန့်တော်မူသည်အတိုင်း၊ အာဗြံထွက်သွား၍ လောတလည်းလိုက်လေ၏။ အာဗြံ သည် ခါရန်မြို့မှ ထွက်သွားသောအခါ အသက်ခုနစ်ဆယ်ငါးနှစ်ရှိ၏။

⁵ အာဗြံသည် မယားစာရဲ၊ အစ်ကိုသားလောတနှင့်၊ ဥစ္စာရတတ်သမျှကို၎င်း၊ ခါရန်မြို့၌ရသော လူတို့ကို ၎င်း၊ ယူပြီးလျှင် ခါနာန်ပြည်သို့ ရောက်ခြင်းငှါ၊ ထွက်သွား၍၊ ထိုပြည်သို့ ရောက်ကြ၏။

⁶ အာဗြံသည် ထိုပြည်ကို ရှောင်သွား၍ ရှိခင်အရပ်၊ မောရသပိတ်ပင်သို့ ရောက်လေ၏။ ထိုအခါ၊ ခါနာန်အမျိုးသားတို့သည် ထိုပြည်၌ ရှိကြရ၏။

⁷ ထာဝရဘုရားသည် အာဗြံအားထင်ရှား၍၊ ဤပြည်ကို သင်၏အမျိုးအနွယ်အား ငါပေးမည်ဟု မိန့်တော်မူ၏။ ထိုသို့ထင်ရှားတော်မူသော ထာဝရဘုရားဘို့၊ ထိုအရပ်၌၊ ယဇ်ပလ္လင်ကို တည်လေ၏။

⁸ ထိုအရပ်မှ သွားပြန်၍၊ ဗေသလမြို့အရှေ့၌ ရှိသော တောင်သို့ ပြောင်းသဖြင့်၊ ဗေသလမြို့အရှေ့၊ အာဣမြို့ အနောက်စပ်ကြားမှာ တဲကိုဆောက်၍၊ ထာဝရဘုရားသို့ ယဇ်ပလ္လင်ကို တည်ပြီးလျှင်၊ ထာဝရဘုရား၏ နာမတော်ကို ပဌာနပြု၏။

⁹ အာဗြံသည် ခရီးသွားလျက်၊ ပြောင်းလျက်၊ တောင်မျက်နှာသို့ ရောက်လေ၏။

¹⁰ ထို့နောက်၊ ခါနာန်ပြည်၌ အစားခေါင်းပါးခြင်းဖြစ်၏။ အလွန်အစားခေါင်းပါးသောကြောင့်၊ အာဗြံသည် အဲဂုတ္တပြည်၌ တည်းခိုးခြင်းငှါ သွားလေ၏။

¹¹ အဲဂုတ္တုပြည်နှင့်နီးသောအခါ၊ မိမိမယားစာရဲကို၊ သင်သည် အဆင်းလှသော မိန်းမဖြစ်သည်ကို ငါသိ၏။

¹² အဲဂုတ္တုလူတို့သည် သင့်ကိုမြင်သောအခါ၊ ဤမိန်းမသည် သူ၏မယားဖြစ်၏ဟုဆိုလျက်၊ ငါ့ကိုသတ်၍ သင့်ကို အသက်ချမ်းသာပေးလိမ့်မည်။

¹³ သို့ဖြစ်၍ သင်သည် ငါ့နှမဖြစ်ကြောင်းကို ပြောပါလော့။ သို့ပြောလျှင် သင့်အတွက် ငါကောင်းစား လိမ့်မည်။ သင်၏ကျေးဇူးအားဖြင့် ငါအသကချမ်းသာ ရလိမ့်မည်ဟု ဆို၏။

¹⁴ အာဗြံသည် အဲဂုတ္တပြည်သို့ ရောက်သောအခါ၊ သူ၏မယားသည် အလွန်အဆင်းလှသည်ကို အဲဂုတ္တုလူတို့သည် မြင်ကြ၏။

¹⁵ ဖါရောဘုရင်၏မှူးတော်မတ်တို့လည်း မြင်၍၊ ရှေ့တော်၌ ချီးမွမ်းပြီးလျှင်၊ နန်းတော်သို့သွင်းရကြ၏။

¹⁶ ဖာရောဘုရင်သည် ထိုမိန်းမအတွက် အာဗြံ၌ ကျေးဇူးပြုသဖြင့်၊ သူသည် သိုး၊ နွား၊ မြည်းထီး၊ မြည်းမ၊ ကျွန်ယောက်ျား၊ ကျွန်မိန်းမ၊ ကုလားအုပ်များနှင့်ကြွယ်ဝ၏။

¹⁷ ထာဝရဘုရားသည် အာဗြံ၏ မယားစာရဲအတွက်ကြောင့်၊ ဖါရောဘုရင်မှစ၍ နန်းတော်သားတို့ကို ကြီးသော ဘေးဒဏ်ဖြင့် ဆုံးမတော်မူ၏။

¹⁸ ဖါရောဘုရင်သည်လည်း အာဗြံကိုခေါ်၍၊ သင်သည်ငါ၌ ပြုသောအမှုကား အဘယ်သို့နည်း။ သူသည် သင်၏မယားဖြစ်ကြောင်းကို၊ ငါအား အဘယ်ကြောင့် မပြောသနည်း။

¹⁹ ငါသည် သူ့ကို သိမ်းပိုက်စေခြင်းငှါ၊ သူသည် ငါ့နှမဖြစ်သည်ဟု အဘယ်ကြောင့်ဆိုသနည်း။ သင်၏ မယားကို ယခုယူ၍သွားလော့ဟု အမိန့်ရှိ၏။

²⁰ ထိုသို့အာဗြံအမှုကို စီရင်၍၊ မိမိလူတို့အား မှာထားသဖြင့်၊ သူတို့သည် အာဗြံ၌ရှိသမျှသော ဥစ္စာနှင့် တကွ၊ သမီးမောင်နှံတို့ကို လွှတ်လိုက်ကြ၏။

¹ Abraham traveled from there toward the land of the South, and lived between Kadesh and Shur. He lived as a foreigner in Gerar.

² Abraham said about Sarah his wife, "She is my sister." Abimelech king of Gerar sent, and took Sarah.

³ But God came to Abimelech in a dream of the night, and said to him, "Behold, you are a dead man, because of the woman whom you have taken. For she is a man's wife."

⁴ Now Abimelech had not come near her. He said, "Lord, will you kill even a righteous nation?

⁵ Didn't he tell me, 'She is my sister?' She, even she herself, said, 'He is my brother.' In the integrity of my heart and the innocence of my hands have I done this."

⁶ God said to him in the dream, "Yes, I know that in the integrity of your heart you have done this, and I also withheld you from sinning against me. Therefore I didn't allow you to touch her.

⁷ Now therefore, restore the man's wife. For he is a prophet, and he will pray for you, and you will live. If you don't restore her, know for sure that you will die, you, and all who are yours."

⁸ Abimelech rose early in the morning, and called all his servants, and told all these things in their ear. The men were very scared.

⁹ Then Abimelech called Abraham, and said to him, "What have you done to us? How have I sinned against you, that you have brought on me and on my kingdom a great sin? You have done deeds to me that ought not to be done!"

¹⁰ Abimelech said to Abraham, "What did you see, that you have done this thing?"

¹¹ Abraham said, "Because I thought, 'Surely the fear of God is not in this place. They will kill me for my wife's sake.'

¹² Besides, she is indeed my sister, the daughter of my father, but not the daughter of my mother; and she became my wife.

¹³ It happened, when God caused me to wander from my father's house, that I said to her, 'This is your kindness which you shall show to me. Everywhere that we go, say of me, "He is my brother."'"

¹⁴ Abimelech took sheep and cattle, male servants and female servants, and gave them to Abraham, and restored Sarah, his wife, to him.

¹⁵ Abimelech said, "Behold, my land is before you. Dwell where it pleases you."

¹⁶ To Sarah he said, "Behold, I have given your brother a thousand pieces of silver. Behold, it is for you a covering of the eyes to all that are with you. In front of all you are vindicated."

¹⁷ Abraham prayed to God. God healed Abimelech, and his wife, and his female servants, and they bore children.

¹⁸ For Yahweh had closed up tight all the wombs of the house of Abimelech, because of Sarah, Abraham's wife.
