¹ അതിന്റെ ശേഷം ദൈവം അബ്രാഹാമിനെ പരീക്ഷിച്ചതു എങ്ങനെയെന്നാല്‍അബ്രാഹാമേ, എന്നു വിളിച്ചതിന്നുഞാന്‍ ഇതാ എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

² അപ്പോള്‍ അവന്‍ നിന്റെ മകനെ, നീ സ്നേഹിക്കുന്ന നിന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ തന്നേ കൂട്ടിക്കൊണ്ടു മോരിയാദേശത്തു ചെന്നു, അവിടെ ഞാന്‍ നിന്നോടു കല്പിക്കുന്ന ഒരു മലയില്‍ അവനെ ഹോമയാഗം കഴിക്ക എന്നു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

³ അബ്രാഹാം അതികാലത്തു എഴുന്നേറ്റു കഴുതെക്കു കോപ്പിട്ടു കെട്ടി ബാല്യക്കാരില്‍ രണ്ടുപേരെയും തന്റെ മകന്‍ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെയും കൂട്ടി ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നു വിറകു കീറി എടുത്തുംകൊണ്ടു പുറപ്പെട്ടു, ദൈവം തന്നോടു കല്പിച്ച സ്ഥലത്തേക്കു പോയി.

⁴ മൂന്നാം ദിവസം അബ്രാഹാം നോക്കി ദൂരത്തു നിന്നു ആ സ്ഥലം കണ്ടു.

⁵ അബ്രാഹാം ബാല്യക്കാരോടുനിങ്ങള്‍ കഴുതയുമായി ഇവിടെ ഇരിപ്പിന്‍ ; ഞാനും ബാലനും അവിടത്തോളം ചെന്നു ആരാധന കഴിച്ചു മടങ്ങിവരാം എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു.

⁶ അബ്രാഹാം ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നുള്ള വിറകു എടുത്തു തന്റെ മകനായ യിസ്ഹാക്കിന്റെ ചുമലില്‍ വെച്ചു; തീയും കത്തിയും താന്‍ എടുത്തു; ഇരുവരും ഒന്നിച്ചു നടന്നു.

⁷ അപ്പോള്‍ യിസ്ഹാക്‍ തന്റെ അപ്പനായ അബ്രാഹാമിനോടുഅപ്പാ, എന്നു പറഞ്ഞതിന്നു അവന്‍ എന്താകുന്നു മകനേ എന്നു പറഞ്ഞു. തീയും വിറകുമുണ്ടു; എന്നാല്‍ ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നു ആട്ടിന്‍ കുട്ടി എവിടെ എന്നു അവന്‍ ചോദിച്ചു.

⁸ ദൈവം തനിക്കു ഹോമയാഗത്തിന്നു ഒരു ആട്ടിന്‍ കുട്ടിയെ നോക്കിക്കൊള്ളും, മകനേ, എന്നു അബ്രാഹാം പറഞ്ഞു. അങ്ങനെ അവര്‍ ഇരുവരും ഒന്നിച്ചു നടന്നു.

⁹ ദൈവം കല്പിച്ചിരുന്ന സ്ഥലത്തു അവര്‍ എത്തി; അബ്രാഹാം ഒരു യാഗപീഠം പണിതു, വിറകു അടുക്കി, തന്റെ മകന്‍ യിസ്ഹാക്കിനെ കെട്ടി യാഗപീഠത്തിന്മേല്‍ വിറകിന്മീതെ കിടത്തി.

¹⁰ പിന്നെ അബ്രാഹാം കൈ നീട്ടി തന്റെ മകനെ അറുക്കേണ്ടതിന്നു കത്തി എടുത്തു.

¹¹ ഉടനെ യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന്‍ ആകാശത്തുനിന്നുഅബ്രാഹാമേ, അബ്രാഹാമേ, എന്നു വിളിച്ചു; ഞാന്‍ ഇതാ, എന്നു അവന്‍ പറഞ്ഞു.

¹² ബാലന്റെ മേല്‍ കൈവെക്കരുതു; അവനോടു ഒന്നും ചെയ്യരുതു; നിന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ മകനെ തരുവാന്‍ നീ മടിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു നീ ദൈവത്തെ ഭയപ്പെടുന്നു എന്നു ഞാന്‍ ഇപ്പോള്‍ അറിയുന്നു എന്നു അവന്‍ അരുളിച്ചെയ്തു.

¹³ അബ്രാഹാം തലപൊക്കി നോക്കിയപ്പോള്‍ പിമ്പുറത്തു ഒരു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റന്‍ കൊമ്പു കാട്ടില്‍ പിടിപെട്ടു കിടക്കുന്നതു കണ്ടു; അബ്രാഹാം ചെന്നു ആട്ടുകൊറ്റനെ പിടിച്ചു തന്റെ മകന്നു പകരം ഹോമയാഗം കഴിച്ചു.

¹⁴ അബ്രാഹാം ആ സ്ഥലത്തിന്നു യഹോവ-യിരേ എന്നു പേരിട്ടു. യഹോവയുടെ പര്‍വ്വതത്തില്‍ അവന്‍ പ്രത്യക്ഷനാകും എന്നു ഇന്നുവരെയും പറഞ്ഞുവരുന്നു.

¹⁵ യഹോവയുടെ ദൂതന്‍ രണ്ടാമതും ആകാശത്തുനിന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിനോടു വിളിച്ചു അരുളിച്ചെയ്തതു

¹⁶ നീ ഈ കാര്യം ചെയ്തു, നിന്റെ ഏകജാതനായ മകനെ തരുവാന്‍ മടിക്കായ്കകൊണ്ടു

¹⁷ ഞാന്‍ നിന്നെ ഐശ്വര്യമായി അനുഗ്രഹിക്കും; നിന്റെ സന്തതിയെ ആകാശത്തിലെ നക്ഷത്രങ്ങള്‍പോലെയും കടല്‍ക്കരയിലെ മണല്‍പോലെയും അത്യന്തം വര്‍ദ്ധിപ്പിക്കും; നിന്റെ സന്തതി ശത്രുക്കളുടെ പട്ടണങ്ങളെ കൈവശമാക്കും.

¹⁸ നീ എന്റെ വാക്കു അനുസരിച്ചതു കൊണ്ടു നിന്റെ സന്തതി മുഖാന്തരം ഭൂമിയിലുള്ള സകലജാതികളും അനുഗ്രഹിക്കപ്പെടും എന്നു ഞാന്‍ എന്നെക്കൊണ്ടു തന്നേ സത്യം ചെയ്തിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു യഹോവ അരുളിച്ചെയ്യുന്നു.

¹⁹ പിന്നെ അബ്രാഹാം ബാല്യക്കാരുടെ അടുക്കല്‍ മടങ്ങിവന്നു; അവര്‍ ഒന്നിച്ചു പുറപ്പെട്ടു ബേര്‍--ശേബയിലേക്കു പോന്നു; അബ്രാഹാം ബേര്‍-ശേബയില്‍ പാര്‍ത്തു.

²⁰ അനന്തരം മില്‍ക്കയും നിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ നാഹോരിന്നു മക്കളെ പ്രസവിച്ചിരിക്കുന്നു എന്നു അബ്രാഹാമിന്നു വര്‍ത്തമാനം കിട്ടി.

²¹ അവര്‍ ആരെന്നാല്‍ആദ്യജാതന്‍ ഊസ്, അവന്റെ അനുജന്‍ ബൂസ്, അരാമിന്റെ പിതാവായ കെമൂവേല്‍,

²² കേശെദ്, ഹസോ, പില്‍ദാശ്, യിദലാഫ്, ബെഥൂവേല്‍.

²³ ബെഥൂവേല്‍ റിബെക്കയെ ജനിപ്പിച്ചു. ഈ എട്ടു പേരെ മില്‍ക്കാ അബ്രാഹാമിന്റെ സഹോദരനായ നാഹോരിന്നു പ്രസവിച്ചു.

²⁴ അവന്റെ വെപ്പാട്ടി രെയൂമാ എന്നവളും തേബഹ്, ഗഹാം, തഹശ്, മാഖാ എന്നിവരെ പ്രസവിച്ചു.

¹ This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created man, he made him in God's likeness.

² He created them male and female, and blessed them, and called their name "Adam," in the day when they were created.

³ Adam lived one hundred thirty years, and became the father of a son in his own likeness, after his image, and named him Seth.

⁴ The days of Adam after he became the father of Seth were eight hundred years, and he became the father of sons and daughters.

⁵ All the days that Adam lived were nine hundred thirty years, then he died.

⁶ Seth lived one hundred five years, and became the father of Enosh.

⁷ Seth lived after he became the father of Enosh eight hundred seven years, and became the father of sons and daughters.

⁸ All the days of Seth were nine hundred twelve years, then he died.

⁹ Enosh lived ninety years, and became the father of Kenan.

¹⁰ Enosh lived after he became the father of Kenan, eight hundred fifteen years, and became the father of sons and daughters.

¹¹ All the days of Enosh were nine hundred five years, then he died.

¹² Kenan lived seventy years, and became the father of Mahalalel.

¹³ Kenan lived after he became the father of Mahalalel eight hundred forty years, and became the father of sons and daughters

¹⁴ and all the days of Kenan were nine hundred ten years, then he died.

¹⁵ Mahalalel lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Jared.

¹⁶ Mahalalel lived after he became the father of Jared eight hundred thirty years, and became the father of sons and daughters.

¹⁷ All the days of Mahalalel were eight hundred ninety-five years, then he died.

¹⁸ Jared lived one hundred sixty-two years, and became the father of Enoch.

¹⁹ Jared lived after he became the father of Enoch eight hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters.

²⁰ All the days of Jared were nine hundred sixty-two years, then he died.

²¹ Enoch lived sixty-five years, and became the father of Methuselah.

²² Enoch walked with God after he became the father of Methuselah three hundred years, and became the father of sons and daughters.

²³ All the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty-five years.

²⁴ Enoch walked with God, and he was not, for God took him.

²⁵ Methuselah lived one hundred eighty-seven years, and became the father of Lamech.

²⁶ Methuselah lived after he became the father of Lamech seven hundred eighty-two years, and became the father of sons and daughters.

²⁷ All the days of Methuselah were nine hundred sixty-nine years, then he died.

²⁸ Lamech lived one hundred eighty-two years, and became the father of a son,

²⁹ and he named him Noah, saying, "This same will comfort us in our work and in the toil of our hands, because of the ground which Yahweh has cursed."

³⁰ Lamech lived after he became the father of Noah five hundred ninety-five years, and became the father of sons and daughters.

³¹ All the days of Lamech were seven hundred seventy-seven years, then he died.

³² Noah was five hundred years old, and Noah became the father of Shem, Ham, and Japheth.
