And they came to Elim, and there were twelve springs of waters there, and seventy palm trees; and they encamped there by the waters. “And they came to Elim,” signifies a state of enlightenment and of affection, thus of consolation after temptation; “and there were twelve springs of waters there,” signifies that they had truths there in all abundance; “and seventy palm-trees,” signifies the goods of truth in like manner; “and they encamped there by the waters,” signifies that after temptation the truths of faith were set in order by means of the good of love.
