That this signifies that faith alone has not such things, namely, glory and sovereignty, is evident from the signification of “being light as water,” as being to be of no weight or power. That faith alone is meant, that is, faith separated from charity, is plain from what follows about Reuben and Simeon and Levi; here also under these names faith separated or alone is treated of.
