And Arpachshad lived five and thirty years and begat Shelah. “And Arpachshad lived five and thirty years,” signifies the beginning of the second state of this church, as well as that second state itself; “Arpachshad” signifies here, as before, memory-knowledge; “and begat Shelah,” signifies the derivation therefrom. Shelah was a nation so called, whereby is signified that which pertains to memory-knowledge.
