10211. 'Once a year he shall make expiation on it' means the everlasting removal of evils. This is clear from the meaning of 'once a year' as that which is everlasting, dealt with above in 10209; and from the meaning of 'making expiation' as purification from evils and consequent falsities, 9506, purification from evils being nothing other than a being held back from them, or removal of them, see the places referred to in 10057(end).
