'Talents' denote good and truth from the Lord received as remains.

In Revelation 16:21, 'great hail, the weight of a talent,' signifies fearsome and atrocious falsities, which destroy all truth and good in the Word, and as a result, in the church. (Apocalypse Revealed 714)

It says 'to be of the weight of a talent' because a talent was the largest weight of silver and gold. 'Silver' signifies truth and 'gold' signifies good, and in the opposite sense, falsity and evil, respectively.

In Matthew 25:28, taking the one talent from the servant, and giving it to the servant with ten talents, signifies that knowledges of good and truth get separated from evil people in the other life, lest they should communicate by them with heaven, and by their evils and falsities with hell, and so hang between the two states.
