¹ And Miriam and Aaron spoke against^◦ Moses on account^◦ of the Ethiopian woman whom he had married; for he had married an Ethiopian woman.

² And they said, Has Jehovah surely^◦ spoken only^▵ by Moses? Has He not spoken also by us? And Jehovah heard it.

³ And the man^◦ Moses was very meek, more than every man who was on the face of the ground.

⁴ And Jehovah said suddenly to^▵ Moses, and to^▵ Aaron, and to^▵ Miriam, Come·​·out ye^◦ three to^▵ the Tabernacle of the congregation^◦. And they three came·​·out.

⁵ And Jehovah came·​·down in the pillar of cloud, and stood in the entrance of the Tabernacle, and called Aaron and Miriam; and the two of them came·​·out.

⁶ And He said, Hear now^◦ My words: If there be a prophet among you, I Jehovah will make Myself known to^▵ him in a vision^◦; I will speak with him in a dream.

⁷ Not so is My servant Moses; he^◦ is·​·faithful in all My house.

⁸ With him will I speak mouth to^▵ mouth, and to the sight, and not in enigmas; and the figure of Jehovah shall he look upon. And wherefore did you not fear to speak against My servant Moses?

⁹ And the anger of Jehovah was·​·fierce against^◦ them; and He went.

¹⁰ And the cloud was removed from off the Tabernacle; and, behold, Miriam became leprous, white as snow; and Aaron turned· his ·face unto^▵ Miriam, and, behold, she was leprous.

¹¹ And Aaron said to^▵ Moses, In·​·me^*, my lord, I pray^◦ thee, put not the sin on us, wherein^◦ we have been·​·stupid, and wherein^◦ we have sinned.

¹² Let her not be as one dead, of whom the flesh is half devoured when he comes·​·out of his mother’s womb.

¹³ And Moses cried to^▵ Jehovah, saying, I pray^◦ Thee, O God^◦, heal her, I pray^◦ thee.

¹⁴ And Jehovah said to^▵ Moses, If her father spitting had spit in her face, should she not be humiliated seven days? Let her be shut outside from the camp seven days, and afterwards let her be gathered·​·in.

¹⁵ And Miriam was shut from outside of^◦ the camp seven days; and the people journeyed not until Miriam was gathered·​·in again.

¹⁶ And after this the people journeyed from Chazeroth, and encamped in the wilderness of Paran.

⁸ Now the king of Syria was warring against Israel; and he took counsel with his servants, saying, "My camp will be in such and such a place."

⁹ The man of God sent to the king of Israel, saying, "Beware that you not pass such a place; for the Syrians are coming down there."

¹⁰ The king of Israel sent to the place which the man of God told him and warned him of; and he saved himself there, not once nor twice.

¹¹ The heart of the king of Syria was very troubled about this. He called his servants, and said to them, "Won't you show me which of us is for the king of Israel?"

¹² One of his servants said, "No, my lord, O king; but Elisha, the prophet who is in Israel, tells the king of Israel the words that you speak in your bedroom."

¹³ He said, "Go and see where he is, that I may send and get him." It was told him, saying, "Behold, he is in Dothan."

¹⁴ Therefore he sent horses, chariots, and a great army there. They came by night, and surrounded the city.

¹⁵ When the servant of the man of God had risen early, and gone out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was around the city. His servant said to him, "Alas, my master! What shall we do?"

¹⁶ He answered, "Don't be afraid; for those who are with us are more than those who are with them."
