Psalms 106

Studie

1 Hallelu-Jah!
Confess ye to Jehovah; for He is good;
for His mercy is to eternity.

2 Who will state the might of Jehovah,
and cause all His praise to be heard?

3 Happy are they who keep judgment,
he who does justice at all times.

4 Remember me O Jehovah, in the good··pleasure of Thy people;
O visit me with Thy salvation;

5 to see the good of Thy chosen,
to be··glad in the gladness of Thy nation,
to glory with Thine inheritance.

6 We have sinned with our fathers,
we have committed··iniquity,
we have acted··wickedly.

7 Our fathers in Egypt comprehended not Thy wonders;
they remembered not the multitude of Thy mercies;
and they rebelled by the sea, at the Suph sea.

8 But He saved them for the sake of His name,
to make known His might.

9 And He rebuked the Suph Sea, and it dried··up;
and He made them walk in the abysses, as the wilderness.

10 And He saved them from the hand of him who hated them,
and redeemed them from the hand of the enemy.

11 And the waters covered their adversaries;
not one of them remained.

12 And they believed in His words;
they sang His praise.

13 They hastened, they forgot His deeds;
they tarried not for His counsel:

14 and they lusted with lust in the wilderness,
and tempted God in the solitude.

15 And He gave to them what they asked;
but sent leanness into their soul.

16 And they were··jealous of Moses in the camp,
of Aaron, the holy··one of Jehovah.

17 The earth opened and swallowed··up Dathan,
and covered over the congregation of Abiram.

18 And a fire burned in their congregation;
the flame set··flame··to the wicked.

19 They made a calf in Horeb,
and worshiped a molten image.

20 And they altered their glory
into the shape of an ox that eats the herb.

21 They forgot God, their Saviour,
who had done great things in Egypt,

22 wonders in the land of Ham,
fearsome things on the Suph Sea.

23 And He said that He would blot· them ·out,
unless Moses, His chosen, had stood in the breach before Him,
to turn··back His fury from destroying them.

24 But they rejected the land of desire,
they believed not His word;

25 and they muttered in their tents,
they obeyed not the voice of Jehovah.

26 And He lifted··up His hand to them,
to make them fall in the wilderness:

27 and to make their seed to fall among the nations,
and to disperse them into the lands.

28 And they joined* themselves to Baal-peor,
and ate the sacrifices of the dead.

29 And they provoked Him with their actions;
and a plague broke··forth on them.

30 And Phinehas stood up and judged;
and the plague was restrained.

31 And it was reckoned to Him for justice,
to generation and generation even··to eternity.

32 And they enraged Him upon the waters of Meribah,
and it was··evil unto Moses for their sakes:

33 for they rebelled··against* His spirit,
and He pronounced with His lips.

34 They blotted· not ·out the peoples,
As Jehovah said to them;

35 but they mingled themselves among the nations,
and learned their deeds:

36 and served their idols,
and they became a snare to them;

37 and they sacrificed their sons
and their daughters to demons,

38 and shed innocent blood,
the blood of their sons and of their daughters,
which they sacrificed to the idols of Canaan.
And the land was contaminated with blood.

39 And they defiled themselves in their deeds,
and committed··harlotry in their actions.

40 And the anger of Jehovah was··fierce against His people,
and He abominated His inheritance;

41 and He gave them into the hand of the nations;
and they who hated them ruled over them.

42 And their enemies pressed··against them,
and they were humbled under their hand.

43 Many times did He rescue them;
but they rebelled in their counsel, and they are worn··away in their iniquity.

44 And He saw their distress,
when He heard their loud··shout:

45 and He remembered for them His covenant,
and repented according··to the multitude of His mercies.

46 And He gave them compassion
before all who took· them ·captive.

47 Save us, Jehovah our God,
and bring· us ·together from the nations,
to confess the name of Thy holiness,
to extol Thy praise.

48 Blessed be Jehovah, the God of Israel,
from eternity, and even··to eternity.
And let all the people say, Amen.
Hallelu-Jah!
