Isaiah 52

Studie

Stir thyself, stir thyself; put on thy strength, O Zion; put on the garments of thy splendor, O Jerusalem, thou city of holiness! For no more shall come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean.

Shake··off the dust from thyself; arise, sit, O Jerusalem; loose thyself from the bonds of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion!

For thus says Jehovah, For··nothing you have··sold yourselves; and not with silver shall you be redeemed.

For thus says the Lord Jehovih*, My people went··down at the first to Egypt to sojourn there; and Assyria oppressed them for nothing.

And now, what have I here? says Jehovah. For My people is taken for··nothing, their rulers make them howl, says Jehovah, and continually all the day is My name disdained.

Therefore My people shall know My name; therefore in that day they shall know that I am He who speaks; behold, it is I.

How comely· on the mountains ·are the feet of him who brings··tidings, who makes peace to be heard; who brings··tidings of good, who makes salvation to be heard! Who says unto Zion, Thy God reigns!

The voice of thy watchmen; they shall lift up their voice; they shall sing··aloud together; for eye to eye shall they see, when Jehovah returns to Zion.

Burst··forth, sing··aloud together, O ye wastes of Jerusalem! For Jehovah has comforted His people; He has redeemed Jerusalem!

Jehovah has made··bare His holy arm in the eyes of all the nations; and all the ends of the earth shall see the salvation of our God.

Remove ye, remove ye, go· ye ·out from thence; touch no unclean thing; go· ye ·out from the midst of her; be ye purified, ye who bear the vessels of Jehovah!

For you shall not go··out with rushing, and you shall not go with fleeing; for Jehovah will walk before you, and the God of Israel will gather· you ·in.

Behold, My Servant shall have··intelligence; He shall be exalted and borne··up, and shall be very lofty.

As many were··astonished at Thee, so His appearance was marred more than any man, and His form more than the sons of man.

So shall He spatter many nations; concerning Him kings shall shut· their mouth ·tightly; for that which was not recounted to them shall they see; and that which they had not heard they shall understand.
