Hosea 5

Studie

1 Hear ye this, O priests; and attend, O house of Israel; and, O house of the king, give· ye ·ear; for the judgment is toward you, for you have been a trap for Mizpah, and a net spread on Tabor.

2 And the devious are··deep into slaughter, and I have been a chastisement to them all.

3 I know Ephraim, and Israel is not concealed from Me; for now, O Ephraim, thou committest··harlotry, and Israel is defiled.

4 They will not allow their actions to return unto their God; for the spirit of harlotries is in the midst··of them, and they have not known Jehovah.

5 And the pride of Israel answers to his face; and Israel and Ephraim shall stumble in their iniquity; Judah also shall stumble with them.

6 They shall go with their flocks and with their herds to seek Jehovah; but they shall not find Him; He has set· Himself ·free from them.

7 They have acted··treacherously against Jehovah; for they have begotten strange sons: now shall a new··moon devour them with their portions.

8 Sound ye the shophar* in Gibeah, and the trumpet in Ramah; shout at Beth-aven, after thee, O Benjamin.

9 Ephraim shall be for a desolation in the day of reproving; among the tribes of Israel have I made known that which is constant.

10 The princes of Judah were as those who take··away the border marker; therefore I will spill My wrath on them like water.

11 Ephraim is oppressed, fractured in judgment, for he was··content to walk after the mandate.

12 And I will be as a moth to Ephraim, and as rottenness to the house of Judah.

13 And Ephraim saw his sickness, and Judah his wound*, and Ephraim went to the Assyrian, and sent to king Jareb; and he was· not ·able to heal for you, nor cure from you the wound*.

14 For I will be to Ephraim as a lion, and as a young··lion to the house of Judah; I, even I, will tear and go away; I will carry away, and none shall rescue him.

15 I will go, I will return to My place, until they hold· themselves ·as··guilty, and seek My face; in their distress they will seek· Me ·in··the··dawn.

Scriptural Confirmations # 54

54. 26. (In Hosea from beginning to end falsification is treated of, which is described by whoredom and Ephraim.)

[The sons of Israel shall abide many days: there shall be no king, no prince, no sacrifice, no image, no ephod, and no teraphim.] Then shall the sons of Israel return and seek Jehovah their God, and David their king, and come with fear to Jehovah, and to His goodness, in the last days (Hosea 3:4-5).

(I will return to my place, and they will seek Me in the morning (Hosea 5:15). Jehovah will revive us after three days, in the third day He will raise us up so that we shall live before Him; His going forth is prepared as the dawn (Hosea 6:2-3).)

(Woe unto them because they have wandered away from Me! destruction unto them! because they have transgressed, and I have redeemed them (Hosea 7:13).)

Devastation shall stand among thy people, there shall be laying waste, as in the day of battle (Hosea 10:14).

Ephraim feedeth on wind and followeth after the east wind, every day he increaseth lies and desolation, they make a covenant with the Assyrians, and oil is carried into Egypt (Hosea 12:2).
