Il Signore è l'amore perfetto espresso come saggezza perfetta. Ci ha creati perché ci amasse, ci desse amore e saggezza, e potesse così unirsi a noi. Questa è la benedizione ultima, per noi ricevere il suo amore e la sua saggezza ed essere uniti a Lui, e tutte le altre forme e significati di "benedizione" ne derivano.

Questo flusso, tuttavia, assume molte forme diverse nella Bibbia, a seconda di chi dà la benedizione, chi la riceve e quali sono le circostanze. Quando le persone ricevono la benedizione del Signore, essa illustra come il Suo amore e la Sua saggezza fluiscono in noi in forme che si adattano allo stato spirituale che queste persone rappresentano. Quando la gente benedice il Signore, significa riconoscere che la vita e tutti i suoi doni provengono da Lui, e mostra il desiderio di accettarli e di essere uniti. Quando le persone si benedicono l'un l'altra, rappresenta il desiderio di condividere il più possibile i buoni desideri e le idee vere e di essere uniti.

6430. 'Who will bless you with the blessings of heaven from above' means blessing with goodness and truth from a source within. This is clear from the meaning of 'the blessings' as the multiplication of truth and fruitfulness of good, for nothing else is meant in the spiritual sense by 'a blessing'; and from the meaning of 'heaven from above' as from a source within, for a person's heaven exists in him interiorly. Indeed a person who leads a good life is as to his interiors living in company with angels, thus in heaven, while as to his exteriors he is living in company with men, thus in the world. When therefore a person accepts goodness and truth which flow in from a source within, coming from the Lord by way of heaven, 'he is blessed with the blessings of heaven from above'.
