Diodati’s first Italian Bible edition was printed in 1607, and his second in 1641. He died in 1649. Throughout the 1800s two editions of Diodati’s text were printed by the British Foreign Bible Society. This is the more recent 1894 edition, translated by Claudiana.

659. Versetto 17. Manderò una grande inondazione sulla terra, per distruggere ogni carne in cui vi è alito di vite sotto i cieli; tutto ciò che è sulla terra perirà. Con il diluvio, è intesa un'inondazione di male e falsità. Distruggere ogni carne in cui vi è alito di vita sotto i cieli, significa che l'intera posterità della chiesa più antica avrebbe distrutto se stessa. Tutto ciò che è sulla terra perirà, significa coloro che erano di quella chiesa e che era diventati di una tale indole.
