And Reu lived two and thirty years, and begat Serug. “And Reu lived two and thirty years,” signifies the beginning of the sixth state; “Reu” signifies the same here as before; “and begat Serug,” signifies a derivation therefrom. Serug was a nation so named from him as its father, by which is signified worship in externals.
