וַיַּרְא יֹוסֵף אִתָּם אֶת־בִּנְיָמִין וַיֹּאמֶר לַאֲשֶׁר עַל־בֵּיתֹו הָבֵא אֶת־הָאֲנָשִׁים הַבָּיְתָה וּטְבֹחַ טֶבַח וְהָכֵן כִּי אִתִּי יֹאכְלוּ הָאֲנָשִׁים בַּצָּהֳרָיִם׃

5697. 'And he contained himself' means a concealment. This is clear from the meaning of 'containing himself' as concealing; for a person who contains himself conceals his inward desires. For what concealment is used to mean here, see immediately above in 5696.
