That this signifies the appearance of some particular and singular things as from another source, is evident from the things unfolded just above (n. 8717), namely, that by their bringing every great word unto Moses is signified that each and all things down to the veriest singulars are from the Lord. From this it also follows that “a small word” too, that is, things particular and singular, are from Him. That there is an appearance that they are from another source will be seen below.
