79. Daß unter Ehebrechen im geistigen Sinn verstanden werde das Gute des WORTES schänden und sein Wahres verfälschen, erhellt aus folgendem:
„Babylon hat mit dem Wein ihrer Hurerei alle Völker getränkt“: Offenbarung 14:8.
„Der Engel sprach: Ich will dir das Gericht der großen Hure zeigen, die auf vielen Wassern sitzt, mit der gehurt haben alle Könige der Erde“: Offenbarung 17:1-2.
„Babylon hat mit dem Wein ihrer Hurerei alle Völker getränkt, und die
Könige der Erde haben mit ihr gehurt“: Offenbarung 18:3.
„Gott hat die große Hure gerichtet, welche die Erde mit ihrer Hurerei verdarb“: Offenbarung 19:2. Das Huren wird von Babylon gesagt, weil unter Babylon diejenigen verstanden werden, welche die göttliche Macht des Herrn an sich reißen, und das WORT entweihen, indem sie es schänden und verfälschen; weswegen auch Babylon „die Mutter des Hurens und der Greuel auf Erden“ genannt wird: Offenbarung 17:5.
Ähnliches wird durch das Huren bei den Propheten bezeichnet, wie bei
Jeremia 23:14: „Bei Jerusalems Propheten sah Ich schreckliche Verstockung im
Ehebruch und im lügenhaften Wandel“.
„Zwei Weiber, Töchter einer Mutter, haben gehurt in Ägypten, sie haben gehurt in ihrer Jugend. Die eine hurte neben Mir und liebte ihre Buhlen von Aschur, die ihr nahe waren, sie brachte ihre Hurerei zu ihnen. Sie ließ nicht ab von ihrem Huren in Ägypten. Die andere verdarb sich in ihrer Liebe mehr als jene, und ihre Hurerei war größer als ihrer Schwester Hurerei. Sie fügte ihrem Huren noch hinzu, daß sie Chaldäer liebte: Es kamen zu ihr Babels Söhne, zu der Liebe Beischlaf und befleckten sie mit ihrem Huren“: Hesekiel 23:2-17. Dies von der israelitischen und jüdischen Kirche, die hier die Töchter einer Mutter sind. Unter ihrer Hurerei wird das Schänden und Verfälschen des WORTES verstanden; und weil im WORT durch Ägypten das Wissen bezeichnet wird, durch Assyrien das Vernünfteln, durch Chaldäa das Entweihen des Wahren, und durch Babel das Entweihen des Guten, so wird gesagt, daß sie mit diesen gehurt habe.
Ähnliches wird von Jerusalem, wodurch die Kirche in Ansehung der Lehre bezeichnet wird, gesagt bei Hesekiel 16:15, 26, 28-29, 32-33, 35f: „Jerusalem! Du hast auf deine Schönheit dich verlassen, und wegen deines Ruhms gehurt, sodaß du über jeden, der vorüberging, ausgossest deine Hurerei. Du hast gehurt mit Ägyptens Söhnen, die in deiner Nähe, groß dem Fleisch nach sind; und deines Hurens hast du viel gemacht. Gehuret hast du mit den Söhnen Aschurs. Weil nie dich sättigten, mit denen du gehurt, so dehntest du dein Huren aus bis in des Handels Land, Chaldäa. Fremde läßt neben ihrem Manne zu das Weib, die Ehebrecherin! Sonst gibt man Lohn den Huren, doch du hast alle Buhlen belohnt, daß allenthalben her sie zu dir kamen, um mit dir zu huren. Darum vernimm Jehovahs Wort, du Hure“. Daß unter Jerusalem die Kirche verstanden werde, sehe man in »4 Hauptlehren der neuen Kirche, die Lehre vom Herrn« Nr. 62, 63.
Ähnliches wird durch das Huren bezeichnet bei Jesaja 23:17-18; 57:3; Jeremia 3:2, 6, 8-9; 5:1, 7; 13:27; 29:23; Mica 1:7; Nahum 3:3-4; Hosea 4:7, 10-11; 3 Mose 20:5; 4 Mose 14:33; 15:39, und anderwärts. Aus diesem Grund wurde auch das jüdische Volk vom Herrn ein ehebrecherisch Geschlecht genannt: Matthaeus 12:39; 16:4; Markus 8:38.

God spoke all these words, saying,

"I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

"You shall have no other gods before me.

"You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me,

and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

"You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain, for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

"Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

You shall labor six days, and do all your work,

but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh your God. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates;

for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore Yahweh blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy.

"Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.

"You shall not murder.

"You shall not commit adultery.

"You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

"You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

All the people perceived the thunderings, the lightnings, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking. When the people saw it, they trembled, and stayed at a distance.

They said to Moses, "Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but don't let God Speak with us, lest we die."
20
Moses said to the people, "Don't be afraid, for God has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you won't sin."

The people stayed at a distance, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.

Yahweh said to Moses, "This is what you shall tell the children of Israel: 'You yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

You shall most certainly not make alongside of me gods of silver, or gods of gold for yourselves.
24
You shall make an altar of earth for me, and shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your cattle. In every place where I record my name I will come to you and I will bless you.
25
If you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of cut stones; for if you lift up your tool on it, you have polluted it.
26
Neither shall you go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness may not be exposed to it.'
