3015. THE INTERNAL SENSE

Verse 1. And Abraham, being old, was advanced in years; ¹ and Jehovah blessed Abraham in all things.

'Abraham, being old, was advanced in years' means when the state was reached in which the Lord's Human could become Divine. 'And Jehovah blessed Abraham in all things' means when all things had been rearranged by the Lord into Divine order.

'Look not back behind thee,' as in Genesis 19:17, means that Lot, who represents the good of charity, should not look to matters of doctrine. 'To look up,' is to look to celestial things. In Genesis 18:22, looking signifies thinking because seeing denotes understanding.
