3034. Verse 7 Jehovah, the God of heaven, who took me from my father's house and from the land of my nativity, and who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying, To your seed I will give this land, He will send His angel before you, and you shall take a wife for my son from there.

'Jehovah, the God of heaven' means the Lord's Divine itself. 'Who took me from my father's house and from the land of my nativity' means the Divine itself by whom the Lord freed Himself from the evils and from the falsities received from the mother. 'And who spoke to me, and who swore to me, saying' means the Divine itself from whom came His Divine will and understanding. 'To your seed I will give this land' means the Divine Truth which belonged to the Lord's Human. 'He will send His angel before you' means Divine Providence. 'And you shall take a wife for my son from there' means that the affection for truth came indeed from there, yet from a new source.

Give

"Ahimelech Giving the Sword of Goliath to David" by Aert de Gelder

Like other common verbs, the meaning of "give" in the Bible is affected by context: who is giving what to whom? In general, though, giving relates to the fact that the Lord provides us all with true teachings for our minds and desires for good in our hearts, and for the fact that we need to accept those gifts while acknowledging that they come from the Lord, and not from ourselves. One of the most common and significant uses of "give" in the Bible is the repeated statement that the Lord had given the land of Canaan to the people of Israel. This springs from the fact that Canaan represents heaven, and illustrates that the Lord created us all for heaven and will give us heaven if we will accept the gift.
