3083. 'And filled her pitcher' means vessels for receiving. This is clear from the meaning of 'a pitcher' in the internal sense, since it is a vessel able to receive water, as a recipient of cognitions of truth, also of truth itself, which are meant by 'water'. For 'water' in the internal sense means cognitions, and also truth, see 28, 680, 2702, 3058.

'The waters issuing out of the sanctuary,' as in Ezekiel 47:12, signify the life and mercy of the Lord, who is the sanctuary.
