Heute erweise ich Güte an dem Hause deines Vaters Saul, an seinen Brüdern und an seinen Freunden, und ich habe dich nicht in die Hand Davids überliefert; und du wirfst mir Heute das Vergehen mit diesem Weibe vor? (O. du schreibst mir Heute ein Vergehen zu wegen dieses Weibes?)
Since the foreskin covers the male genitals, it represents the love of self and love of the world, which cover over our potential for good and truth and prevent us from achieving conjunction with our spouses, with the Lord, and with each other. The removal of the foreskin in circumcision represents the removal of these evil loves so that we can receive heavenly things.
