Tread down or bruise

In Genesis 3:15, Isaiah 26:5-6, and 28:2-3, this signifies to subdue and overcome the lowest natural, which is the corporeal. (Arcana Coelestia 250)

In Leviticus 22:24, this signifies falsity or evil affecting something. (Apocalypse Explained 867[4])

258. 'Treading down' or bruising is used to mean forcing down so that it goes on its belly and eats dust. This is clear from this and from the previous verse. A similar usage also occurs in Isaiah, Jehovah has cast down the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city. He will lay it low, He will lay it low even to the ground, He will throw it down even into the dust. The foot will trample on it. Isaiah 16:5, 6.

And also,

With His hand He will cast them down to the earth, they will be trodden under foot, the haughty crown. Isaiah 28:2-3.
