In Amos 9:13, this signifies that the man of the church, or he who receives good and truth, must perform useful service. (Apocalypse Explained 376[6])

In Revelation 11:2, this signifies to break up every truth of the Word until there is nothing left. (Apocalypse Revealed 489)

258. 'Treading down' or bruising is used to mean forcing down so that it goes on its belly and eats dust. This is clear from this and from the previous verse. A similar usage also occurs in Isaiah, Jehovah has cast down the inhabitants of the height, the lofty city. He will lay it low, He will lay it low even to the ground, He will throw it down even into the dust. The foot will trample on it. Isaiah 16:5, 6.
