There are common threads in these terms -- all in some way refer to collections of good desires and/or true ideas put in order. "Lodging place" is a tricky term to deal with, because there are several different terms in the original language which are translated several different ways in various versions of the Bible. For example, what is translated as "lodging place" in one version is "encampment" in others -- but "encampment" is also used for the camp of the Israelites in their travels, which has a very distinct meaning. "Inn" is another common translation -- but it has a different meaning from the New Testament inn where the Good Samaritan took the injured traveler. In Genesis and Exodus, "lodging place" usually refers to the "exterior natural," which is essentially the outermost layer of the outermost layer of our minds. This is the level where we collect simple sense-based facts: grass is green; the sun is bright; water is wet. We use these simple ideas to build more complex ones, but in and of themselves they stay closely connected to our senses.
