Garden in Eden eastward
'Garden' means intelligence, 'Eden' love, 'the east' the Lord. 'A garden in Eden, from the east' therefore represents the celestial man's intelligence which flows in by way of love from the Lord. (Arcana Coelestia 98) To dress and keep the Garden of Eden, as in Genesis 2:15, signifies all things belonging to the celestial man, but not to possess them as his own, because they are the Lord's.
