1 Now Naaman, captain of the army of the king of Syria, was a great man with his master, and honorable, because by him Yahweh had given victory to Syria: he was also a mighty man of valor, [but he was] a leper.

Verse 1. The rational faculty of the natural man, who is in the love of knowledge, is greatly valued by him, and much beloved, since it is the means whereby he keeps in subjection his lower passions: for the rational man is skilful in argument and bold; nevertheless he profanes the truth he acquires by using it for selfish purposes.
