5 And Adonijah the son of Haggith* lifted·​·himself· ·up, saying, I◦ will be·​·king; and he made ready for himself a chariot and horsemen, and fifty men◦ to run before him.

Verse 5. Because the natural man, from the delight of self-love, is now excited, aspiring after dominion, and is supported by false doctrines, a perverted intelligence, and the full power of natural reason.
