5 και δια τι ανεβιβασατε ημας εκ της Αιγυπτου, δια να φερητε ημας εις τον κακον τουτον τοπον; ουτος δεν ειναι τοπος σπορας η συκων η αμπελων η ροδιων· ουδε υδωρ υπαρχει δια να πιωμεν.

Verse 5. And why have we been led from the delights of the natural life into such conditions as this, in which we are deprived of truth, of good, and of knowledge as to spiritual good internal and external? A state in which, indeed, even general truths can neither be acquired nor appropriated!
