9 διοτι ουτως ειναι προστεταγμενον εις εμε δια του λογου του Κυριου, λεγοντος, Μη φαγης αρτον και μη πιης υδωρ και μη επιστρεψης δια της οδου, δια της οποιας ηλθες.

Verse 9. Because it is the nature of faith from charity, by virtue of its origin from Divine Truth, that (although it can reprove the idolatrous man through his understanding, yet) it can appropriate neither good nor truth from things external in worship, nor is it fully conjoined with charity by advancing from internal states to such as are external, but by preceding from externals to internals.
