35 But the high places he took not away: the people still sacrificed and burnt incense in the high places: he built the highest gate of the house of the Lord.

Verse 35. Nevertheless the imperfect affections of the natural man remain; and man is devoted to those affections so that his worship of the Lord is not wholly pure. But the interior truth of the Word is open to the man of this church.
