14 and he spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but *I* will add to your yoke: my father chastised you with whips, but *I* will chastise you with scorpions.

Verse 14. Eagerly adopting false persuasions grounded in appearances of truth, and thus seeking dominion over the will and the understanding of the man of the church, by strengthening his evil affections and intensifying in him infernal falsity.
