5 And Jehovah smote the king, so that he was a leper unto the day of his death, and dwelt in a separate house. And Jotham the king's son was over the household, judging the people of the land.

Verse 5. Added to which there is a state of profanation, arising from the opposition of the natural man to the Lord, which state is continuous with the wicked and is only removed by regeneration with the good, so that, meanwhile, the external man is separate from the internal, the latter being governed by Divine Truth from Divine Good, which is perfect.
