¹ อิสราเอลเดินทางไปพร้อมกับทรัพย์ทั้งหมด มาถึงเมืองเบเออร์เชบา และถวายเครื่องบูชาแด่พระเจ้าของอิสอัคบิดาของตน

² พระเจ้าตรัสแก่อิสราเอลโดยนิมิตในเวลากลางคืนว่า "ยาโคบ ยาโคบเอ๋ย" ยาโคบทูลว่า "ข้าพระองค์อยู่ที่นี่พระเจ้าข้า"

³ พระองค์จึงตรัสว่า "เราคือพระเจ้า คือพระเจ้าของบิดาเจ้า อย่ากลัวที่จะลงไปยังอียิปต์เพราะเราจะให้เจ้าเป็นประชาชาติใหญ่ที่นั่น

⁴ เราจะลงไปกับเจ้าถึงอียิปต์ และเราจะพาเจ้าขึ้นมาอีกด้วยแน่ และโยเซฟจะวางมือบนตาเจ้า"

⁵ ยาโคบก็ยกไปจากเบเออร์เชบา บรรดาบุตรชายอิสราเอลก็พายาโคบบิดาขึ้นรถบรรทุกที่ฟาโรห์ส่งมารับไปกับลูกหลานเล็กๆและภรรยาของเขา

⁶ เขาพาฝูงสัตว์ของตนและทรัพย์ที่เขาได้มาในแผ่นดินคานาอันนั้นไปอียิปต์ ทั้งยาโคบกับบรรดาเชื้อสายของท่าน

⁷ คือลูกหลานชายหญิงและเชื้อสายทั้งหมดของท่านเข้าไปในอียิปต์

⁸ ต่อไปนี้เป็นชื่อลูกหลานของอิสราเอลที่เข้าไปในอียิปต์ ทั้งยาโคบและบุตรชายของท่านคือ รูเบน บุตรหัวปีของยาโคบ

⁹ และบุตรชายของรูเบน คือ ฮาโนค ปัลลู เฮสโรน และคารมี

¹⁰ บุตรชายของสิเมโอน คือ เยมูเอล ยามีน โอหาด ยาคีน และโศหาร์ กับชาอูล บุตรชายของหญิงคนคานาอัน

¹¹ บุตรชายของเลวี คือ เกอร์โชน โคฮาท และเมรารี

¹² บุตรชายของยูดาห์คือ เอร์ โอนัน เช-ลาห์ เปเรศ เศ-ราห์ แต่เอร์และโอนันได้ถึงแก่ความตายในแผ่นดินคานาอัน บุตรชายของเปเรศคือ เฮสโรน และฮามูล

¹³ บุตรชายของอิสสาคาร์ คือ โทลา ปูวาห์ โยบ และชิมโรน

¹⁴ บุตรชายของเศบูลุน คือ เสเรด เอโลน และยาเลเอล

¹⁵ พวกเหล่านี้เป็นบุตรชายของนางเลอาห์ ซึ่งนางคลอดให้ยาโคบในปัดดานอารัม กับบุตรสาวชื่อ ดีนาห์ บุตรชายหญิงหมดด้วยกันมีสามสิบสามคน

¹⁶ บุตรชายของกาด คือ ศิฟีโอน ฮักกี ชูนี เอสโบน เอรี อาโรดี และอาเรลี

¹⁷ บุตรชายของอาเชอร์ คือ ยิมนาห์ อิชอูอาห์ อิชอูไอ และเบรีอาห์ กับเสราห์น้องสาวของเขา และบุตรชายของเบรีอาห์คือ เฮเบอร์และมัลคีเอล

¹⁸ พวกเหล่านี้เป็นบุตรชายของนางศิลปาห์ ผู้ที่ลาบันยกให้แก่นางเลอาห์บุตรสาวของตน และบุตรสิบหกคนนี้นางคลอดให้ยาโคบ

¹⁹ บุตรชายของนางราเชลภรรยายาโคบคือ โยเซฟและเบนยามิน

²⁰ มนัสเสห์กับเอฟราอิม เกิดแก่โยเซฟในแผ่นดินอียิปต์ ซึ่งนางอาเสนัทบุตรสาวของโปทิเฟรา ปุโรหิตเมืองโอนคลอดให้ท่าน

²¹ บุตรชายของเบนยามินคือ เบลา เบเคอร์ อัชเบล เก-รา นาอามาน เอไฮ โรช มุปปิม หุปปิม และอาร์ด

²² พวกเหล่านี้เป็นบุตรชายของนางราเชลที่เกิดแก่ยาโคบ มีสิบสี่คนด้วยกัน

²³ บุตรชายของดานคือ หุชิม

²⁴ บุตรชายของนัฟทาลีคือ ยาเซเอล กูนี เยเซอร์ และชิลเลม

²⁵ พวกเหล่านี้เป็นบุตรชายของนางบิลฮาห์ ผู้ที่ลาบันยกให้แก่นางราเชลบุตรสาวของตน และบุตรเจ็ดคนนี้นางคลอดให้ยาโคบ

²⁶ บรรดาคนของยาโคบซึ่งออกมาจากบั้นเอวของท่านที่เข้ามาในอียิปต์นั้น ไม่นับภรรยาของบุตรชายยาโคบ มีหกสิบหกคนด้วยกัน

²⁷ บุตรชายของโยเซฟซึ่งเกิดแก่ท่านในอียิปต์มีสองคน นับคนทั้งปวงในครอบครัวของยาโคบที่เข้ามาในอียิปต์ได้เจ็ดสิบคน

²⁸ ยาโคบให้ยูดาห์ล่วงหน้าไปหาโยเซฟเพื่อจะนำหน้าไปยังเมืองโกเชน แล้วพวกเขาก็มาถึงแผ่นดินโกเชน

²⁹ โยเซฟก็จัดรถม้าของตนขึ้นไปยังเมืองโกเชนรับอิสราเอลบิดาของตน พอเห็นบิดาท่านก็กอดคอบิดาไว้ร้องไห้เป็นเวลานาน

³⁰ อิสราเอลพูดกับโยเซฟว่า "เดี๋ยวนี้พ่อจะตายก็ตามเถิด เพราะพ่อได้เห็นหน้าเจ้าแล้วและรู้ว่าเจ้ายังมีชีวิตอยู่"

³² คนเหล่านั้นเป็นผู้เลี้ยงแกะมีอาชีพเลี้ยงสัตว์ เขาพาฝูงแพะแกะ ฝูงวัวกับทรัพย์สมบัติของเขาทั้งสิ้นมาด้วย'

³³ และต่อมาเมื่อฟาโรห์จะรับสั่งให้ท่านเข้าเฝ้าและจะถามว่า `พวกเจ้าเคยทำมาหาเลี้ยงชีพอย่างไร'

³⁴ ท่านทั้งหลายจงทูลว่า `การทำมาหาเลี้ยงชีพของผู้รับใช้ของพระองค์นั้นเกี่ยวข้องกับพวกสัตว์ใช้งานตั้งแต่เป็นเด็กมาจนทุกวันนี้ ทั้งข้าพระองค์ทั้งหลายและบรรพบุรุษของข้าพระองค์ด้วย' เพื่อท่านทั้งหลายจะได้อาศัยอยู่ในแผ่นดินโกเชน เหตุว่าคนเลี้ยงแพะแกะทุกคนนั้นเป็นที่พึงรังเกียจสำหรับชาวอียิปต์"

¹ Israel traveled with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father, Isaac.

² God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, "Jacob, Jacob!" He said, "Here I am."

³ He said, "I am God, the God of your father. Don't be afraid to go down into Egypt, for there I will make of you a great nation.

⁴ I will go down with you into Egypt. I will also surely bring you up again. Joseph will close your eyes."

⁵ Jacob rose up from Beersheba, and the sons of Israel carried Jacob, their father, their little ones, and their wives, in the wagons which Pharaoh had sent to carry him.

⁶ They took their livestock, and their goods, which they had gotten in the land of Canaan, and came into Egypt--Jacob, and all his seed with him,

⁷ his sons, and his sons' sons with him, his daughters, and his sons' daughters, and he brought all his seed with him into Egypt.

⁸ These are the names of the children of Israel, who came into Egypt, Jacob and his sons: Reuben, Jacob's firstborn.

⁹ The sons of Reuben: Hanoch, Pallu, Hezron, and Carmi.

¹⁰ The sons of Simeon: Jemuel, Jamin, Ohad, Jachin, Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman.

¹¹ The sons of Levi: Gershon, Kohath, and Merari.

¹² The sons of Judah: Er, Onan, Shelah, Perez, and Zerah; but Er and Onan died in the land of Canaan. The sons of Perez were Hezron and Hamul.

¹³ The sons of Issachar: Tola, Puvah, Iob, and Shimron.

¹⁴ The sons of Zebulun: Sered, Elon, and Jahleel.

¹⁵ These are the sons of Leah, whom she bore to Jacob in Paddan Aram, with his daughter Dinah. All the souls of his sons and his daughters were thirty-three.

¹⁶ The sons of Gad: Ziphion, Haggi, Shuni, Ezbon, Eri, Arodi, and Areli.

²⁰ To Joseph in the land of Egypt were born Manasseh and Ephraim, whom Asenath, the daughter of Potiphera, priest of On, bore to him.

²¹ The sons of Benjamin: Bela, Becher, Ashbel, Gera, Naaman, Ehi, Rosh, Muppim, Huppim, and Ard.

²² These are the sons of Rachel, who were born to Jacob: all the souls were fourteen.

²³ The son of Dan: Hushim.

²⁴ The sons of Naphtali: Jahzeel, Guni, Jezer, and Shillem.

²⁵ These are the sons of Bilhah, whom Laban gave to Rachel, his daughter, and these she bore to Jacob: all the souls were seven.

²⁶ All the souls who came with Jacob into Egypt, who were his direct descendants, besides Jacob's sons' wives, all the souls were sixty-six.

²⁷ The sons of Joseph, who were born to him in Egypt, were two souls. All the souls of the house of Jacob, who came into Egypt, were seventy.

²⁸ He sent Judah before him to Joseph, to show the way before him to Goshen, and they came into the land of Goshen.

²⁹ Joseph prepared his chariot, and went up to meet Israel, his father, in Goshen. He presented himself to him, and fell on his neck, and wept on his neck a good while.

³⁰ Israel said to Joseph, "Now let me die, since I have seen your face, that you are still alive."

³¹ Joseph said to his brothers, and to his father's house, "I will go up, and speak with Pharaoh, and will tell him, 'My brothers, and my father's house, who were in the land of Canaan, have come to me.

³² These men are shepherds, for they have been keepers of livestock, and they have brought their flocks, and their herds, and all that they have.'

³³ It will happen, when Pharaoh summons you, and will say, 'What is your occupation?'

³⁴ that you shall say, 'Your servants have been keepers of livestock from our youth even until now, both we, and our fathers:' that you may dwell in the land of Goshen; for every shepherd is an abomination to the Egyptians."
