3076. 'And so it was, before he had finished speaking' means the realization of what he willed. This is clear from what immediately follows, that is to say, that every single thing took place as he prayed it would, or was realized as he willed it. For 'speaking' means willing, see 2626, 3037.

2626. 'As God had spoken to him' means as He had willed. This becomes clear from the meaning of 'speaking' as thinking, dealt with in 2271, 2287, 2619; but here willing is meant for the reason that it was 'God' who is said to have spoken, and thinking in the case of the Divine is His willing.
