καὶ ἀπέστρεψεν πᾶσαν τὴν ἵππον σοδομων καὶ λωτ τὸν ἀδελφὸν αὐτοῦ ἀπέστρεψεν καὶ τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ καὶ τὰς γυναῖκας καὶ τὸν λαόν
2713. That a “wilderness” here signifies what is relatively obscure, is evident from the signification of a “wilderness,” when predicated of the spiritual man, as being what is obscure in comparison with the celestial man (see above, n. 2708).

Yahweh spoke to Moses, saying,

"Send men, that they may spy out the land of Canaan, which I give to the children of Israel. Of every tribe of their fathers, you shall Send a man, every one a prince among them."

Moses sent them from the wilderness of Paran according to the commandment of Yahweh: all of them men who were heads of the children of Israel.
