1 Και ειπε Κυριος προς τον Μωυσην, Ιδε, εγω σε κατεστησα Θεον εις τον Φαραω· και Ααρων ο αδελφος σου θελει εισθαι προφητης σου·

2 συ θελεις λαλησει παντα οσα σε προσταζω· ο δε Ααρων ο αδελφος σου θελει λαλησει προς τον Φαραω, δια να εξαποστειλη τους υιους Ισραηλ εκ της γης αυτου·

3 εγω δε θελω σκληρυνει την καρδιαν του Φαραω και θελω πληθυνει τα σημεια μου και τα θαυμασια μου εν τη γη της Αιγυπτου·

4 πλην ο Φαραω δεν θελει σας υπακουσει και θελω επιβαλει την χειρα μου επι την Αιγυπτον και θελω εξαγαγει τα στρατευματα μου, τον λαον μου, τους υιους Ισραηλ, εκ γης Αιγυπτου με κρισεις μεγαλας·

5 και θελουσι γνωρισει οι Αιγυπτιοι οτι εγω ειμαι ο Κυριος, οταν εκτεινω την χειρα μου επι την Αιγυπτον και εξαγαγω τους υιους Ισραηλ εκ μεσου αυτων.

6 Εκαμον δε ο Μωυσης και ο Ααρων καθως προσεταξεν εις αυτους ο Κυριος· ουτως εκαμον.

7 Ητο δε ο Μωυσης ηλικιας ογδοηκοντα ετων, ο δε Ααρων ογδοηκοντα τριων ετων, οτε ελαλησαν προς τον Φαραω.

8 Και ειπε Κυριος προς τον Μωυσην, και προς τον Ααρων, λεγων,

9 Οταν σας ειπη ο Φαραω, λεγων, Δειξατε σεις θαυμα· τοτε θελεις ειπει προς τον Ααρων, Λαβε την ραβδον σου και ριψον εμπροσθεν του Φαραω· και θελει γεινει οφις.

10 Εισηλθον λοιπον ο Μωυσης και ο Ααρων προς τον Φαραω, και εκαμον ουτως ως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος· και ερριψεν ο Ααρων την ραβδον αυτου εμπροσθεν του Φαραω και εμπροσθεν των δουλων αυτου, και εγεινεν οφις.

11 Εκαλεσε δε και ο Φαραω τους σοφους και τους μαγους· και οι μαγοι της Αιγυπτου εκαμον και αυτοι ωσαυτως με τας επωδας αυτων.

12 Διοτι ερριψαν εκαστος την ραβδον αυτου, και εγειναν οφεις· η ραβδος ομως του Ααρων κατεπιε τας ραβδους εκεινων.

13 Και εσκληρυνθη η καρδια του Φαραω και δεν εισηκουσεν εις αυτους, καθως ελαλησεν ο Κυριος.

14 Και ειπε Κυριος προς τον Μωυσην, Εσκληρυνθη η καρδια του Φαραω, ωστε να μη εξαποστειλη τον λαον·

15 υπαγε προς τον Φαραω το πρωι· ιδου, εξερχεται εις το υδωρ· και θελεις σταθη παρα το χειλος του ποταμου, δια να συναντησης αυτον· και την ραβδον, την μεταβληθεισαν εις οφιν, θελεις κρατει εις την χειρα σου·

16 και θελεις ειπει προς αυτον· Κυριος ο Θεος των Εβραιων με απεστειλε προς σε, λεγων, Εξαποστειλον τον λαον μου, δια να με λατρευση εν τη ερημω· αλλ' ιδου, δεν εισηκουσας εως του νυν·

17 ουτω λεγει Κυριος· Με τουτο θελεις γνωρισει οτι εγω ειμαι ο Κυριος· ιδου, με την ραβδον την εν τη χειρι μου θελω κτυπησει επι τα υδατα του ποταμου και θελουσι μεταβληθη εις αιμα·

18 και τα οψαρια τα εν τω ποταμω θελουσι τελευτησει, και ο ποταμος θελει βρωμησει, και οι Αιγυπτιοι θελουσιν αηδιασει να πιωσιν υδωρ εκ του ποταμου·

19 Και ειπε Κυριος προς τον Μωυσην, Ειπε προς τον Ααρων, Λαβε την ραβδον σου και εκτεινον την χειρα σου επι τα υδατα της Αιγυπτου, επι τους ρυακας αυτων, επι τους ποταμους αυτων, επι τας λιμνας αυτων, και επι πασαν συναγωγην υδατος αυτων, και θελουσι γεινει αιμα· και θελει εισθαι αιμα καθ' ολην την γην της Αιγυπτου και εις τα ξυλινα και πετρινα αγγεια.

20 Και εκαμον ουτως ο Μωυσης και ο Ααρων καθως προσεταξεν ο Κυριος· και υψωσας ο Ααρων την ραβδον, εκτυπησε τα υδατα του ποταμου ενωπιον του Φαραω και ενωπιον των θεραποντων αυτου· και μετεβληθησαν εις αιμα παντα τα υδατα του ποταμου.

21 Και τα οψαρια τα εν τω ποταμω ετελευτησαν, και ο ποταμος εβρωμησεν, ωστε οι Αιγυπτιοι δεν ηδυναντο να πιωσιν υδωρ εκ του ποταμου· και ητο αιμα καθ' ολην την γην της Αιγυπτου.

22 Εκαμον δε το ομοιον και οι μαγοι της Αιγυπτου με τας επωδας αυτων· και εσκληρυνθη η καρδια του Φαραω και δεν εισηκουσεν εις αυτους, καθως ειπεν ο Κυριος.

23 Και επιστρεψας ο Φαραω, ηλθεν εις τον οικον αυτου, και δεν επεστησε την καρδιαν αυτου ουδε εις τουτο.

24 Παντες δε οι Αιγυπτιοι εσκαπτον περιξ του ποταμου δια να πιωσιν υδωρ, διοτι δεν ηδυναντο να πιωσιν εκ του υδατος του ποταμου.

25 Και συνεπληρωθησαν επτα ημεραι, αφου ο Κυριος εκτυπησε τον ποταμον.

7230. Verses 14-25 These are the heads of their fathers' houses: The sons of Reuben, the firstborn of Israel, were Enoch 1 and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi; these are the families of Reuben. And the sons of Simeon were Jemuel and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar, and Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman; these are the families of Simeon. And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their births: Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari. And the years of Levi's life were one hundred and thirty-seven years. The sons of Gershon were Libni and Shimei, according to their families. And the sons of Kohath were Amram and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel. And the years of Kohath's life were one hundred and thirty-three years. And the sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi. These are the families of Levi according to their births. And Amram took Jochebed his father's sister as wife, and she bore him Aaron and Moses. And the years of Amram's life were one hundred and thirty-seven years. And the sons of Izhar were Korah and Nepheg, and Zichri. And the sons of Uzziel were Mishael and Elzaphan, and Sithri. And Aaron took Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, as wife; and she bore him Nadab, and Abihu, and Eleazar, and Ithamar. And the sons of Korah were Assir and Elkanah, and Abiasaph. These are the families of the Korahites. And Eleazar, Aaron's son, took for himself one of the daughters of Putiel as wife; and she bore him Phinehas. These are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families.

[2] 'These are the heads of their fathers' houses' means the chief aspects of the Church. 'The sons of Reuben were Enoch and Pallu, Hezron and Carmi' means aspects of faith present in the understanding. 'These are the families of Reuben' means the truths of faith. 'And the sons of Simeon were Jemuel and Jamin, and Ohad, and Jachin, and Zohar' means aspects of faith expressed in action. 'And Shaul the son of a Canaanite woman' means aspects of truth expressed in action outside the Church. 'These are the families of Simeon' means the truths and forms of the good belonging to that faith. 'And these are the names of the sons of Levi according to their births: Gershon, and Kohath, and Merari' means aspects of charity. 'And the years of Levi's life were one hundred and thirty-seven years' means the essential nature and state.

[3] 'The sons of Gershon were Libni and Shimei, according to their families' means the first group of the forms of goodness and truth that derive from charity. 'And the sons of Kohath were Amram and Izhar, and Hebron, and Uzziel' means the second group of the forms of goodness and truth that derive from charity. 'And the years of Kohath's life were one hundred and thirty-three years' means the essential nature and state. 'And the sons of Merari were Mahli and Mushi' means the third group of the forms of goodness and truth that derive from charity. 'These are the families of Levi according to their births' means that these are the forms of good and of truth that spring from charity. 'And Amram took Jochebed his father's sister as wife' means good derived from charity joined to kindred truth. 'And she bore him Aaron and Moses' means that from this union the teachings of the Church and the law from God came to them. 'And the years of Amram's life were one hundred and thirty-seven years' means the essential nature and state.

[4] 'And the sons of Izhar were Korah and Nepheg, and Zichri' means the good, and the truth from that good, which belong to one part of the next generation descending from the second group. 'And the sons of Uzziel were Mishael and Elzaphan, and Sithri' means the good within truth belonging to another part of the next generation descending from the same group. 'And Aaron took Elisheba, the daughter of Amminadab, the sister of Nahshon, as wife' means the teachings of the Church and the way in which goodness and truth were joined together within them. 'And she bore him Nadab, and Abihu, and Eleazar, and Ithamar' means forms of faith and charity descending from that group and their essential nature.

[5] 'And the sons of Korah were Assir and Elkanah, and Abiasaph' means yet another generation descending from the second group. 'These are the families of the Korahites' means the essential nature of forms of goodness and truth. 'And Eleazar, Aaron's son' means religious teachings derived from the primary doctrine of charity. 'Took for himself one of the daughters of Putiel as wife' means goodness and truth joined together within those teachings. 'And she bore him Phinehas' means what derived from that union. 'These are the heads of the fathers of the Levites according to their families' means the chief aspects within the Church of charity and of faith that stems from it.
