6795. 'And he called his name Gershom' means the essential nature of them, of those truths. This is clear from the meaning of 'the name' and 'calling the name' as the essential nature, dealt with in 144, 145, 1754, 2009, 2724, 3006, 3421, 6674, 'Gershom' implies the essential nature of those truths, which is that they are the truths in which he received instruction in a Church that was not his own - the meaning in what immediately follows.
