8485. 'And they gathered it morning by morning' means the reception of good from the Lord unceasingly. This is clear from the meaning of 'gathering' - that is to say, the manna - as the reception of good, as above in 8467, 8472; and from the meaning of 'morning by morning', or every morning, as unceasingly. For 'morning by morning' implies every morrow, and 'the morrow' means what is eternal, 3998, thus also perpetually and unceasingly.
