From all this it is evident that 'Joseph wept as they spoke to him' means reception brought about by love.

3801. 'And lifted up his voice and wept' means the warmth of love. This is clear from the meaning of 'lifting up the voice and weeping' as the warmth of love, for weeping is an expression of sorrow and also an expression of love, and is the highest degree of either of them.
