1 Տէրը յայտնեց հետեւեալ բոլոր պատգամները՝ ասելով.

2 «Ե՛ս եմ քո Տէր Աստուածը, որ քեզ հանեցի Եգիպտացիների երկրից՝ ստրկութեան տնից:

3 Ինձնից բացի այլ աստուածներ չպիտի լինեն քեզ համար:

4 Վերեւում՝ երկնքում, ներքեւում՝ երկրի վրայ, եւ երկրի խորքի ջրերի մէջ եղած որեւէ բանի նմանութեամբ քեզ կուռքեր չպիտի կերտես:

5 Չպիտի երկրպագես ու չպիտի պաշտես դրանց, որովհետեւ ե՛ս եմ քո Տէր Աստուածը՝ մի նախանձոտ Աստուած. հայրերի մեղքերի համար պատժում եմ որդիներին, ինձ ատող մարդկանց նոյնիսկ երրորդ ու չորրորդ սերնդին,

6 իսկ ինձ սիրող ու իմ հրամանը կատարող մարդկանց մինչեւ հազարերորդ սերնդին ողորմում եմ:

7 Քո տէր Աստծու անունն զուր տեղը չպիտի արտասանես, որովհետեւ Տէրը արդար չի համարում նրան, ով իր անունը զուր տեղն է արտասանում:

8 Յիշի՛ր շաբաթ օրը, որպէսզի սուրբ պահես այն:

9 Վեց օր պիտի աշխատես եւ պիտի կատարես քո բոլոր գործերը:

10 Եօթներորդ օրը քո տէր Աստծու շաբաթ օրն է: Այդ օրը դու ոչ մի գործ չպիտի անես, ոչ էլ քո տղան ու աղջիկը, քո ծառան ու քո աղախինը, քո էշն ու քո եզը, քո բոլոր անասունները, քեզ մօտ գտնուող օտարականն ու քեզ մօտ բնակուող պանդուխտը,

11 որովհետեւ Տէր Աստուած վեց օրում ստեղծեց երկինքն ու երկիրը, ծովն ու այն ամէնը, ինչ դրանց մէջ է, իսկ եօթներորդ օրը հանգստացաւ: Դրա համար էլ Տէրն օրհնեց եօթներորդ օրը եւ այն սուրբ հռչակեց:

12 Պատուի՛ր քո հօրն ու քո մօրը, որպէսզի բարիք գտնես, երկար ապրես բարեբեր այն երկրի վրայ, որ Տէր Աստուած տալու է քեզ:

13 Մի՛ սպանիր:

14 Մի՛ շնացիր:

15 Մի՛ գողացիր:

16 Քո հարեւանի դէմ սուտ վկայութիւն մի՛ տուր:

17 Ո՛չ քո մերձաւորի տան, ո՛չ նրա ագարակի վրայ աչք մի՛ ունեցիր: Ո՛չ քո մերձաւորի կնոջ վրայ, ո՛չ նրա ծառայի վրայ, ո՛չ նրա աղախնու վրայ, ո՛չ նրա եզան վրայ, ո՛չ նրա էշի վրայ, ո՛չ նրա անասունի վրայ, ո՛չ այն ամենի վրայ, ինչ քո մերձաւորինն է, աչք մի՛ ունեցիր»:

18 Ողջ ժողովուրդը լսում էր որոտը, շեփորի ձայնը, տեսնում փայլատակումներն ու ծխացող լեռը: Ողջ ժողովուրդը զարհուրեց, ընկրկեց ու կանգնեց հեռու:

19 Մարդիկ ասացին Մովսէսին. «Դո՛ւ խօսիր մեզ հետ, եւ մենք կը հնազանդուենք: Աստուած թող չխօսի մեզ հետ, թէ չէ կարող ենք մեռնել:

20 Մովսէսն ասաց նրանց. «Սրտապնդուեցէ՛ք, որովհետեւ Աստուած ձեզ փորձելու համար եկաւ ձեզ մօտ, որպէսզի նրա երկիւղը լինի ձեր մէջ, եւ դուք մեղք չգործէք»:

21 Ժողովուրդը լեռից հեռու էր կանգնած, իսկ Մովսէսը մտաւ մառախուղի մէջ, ուր գտնւում էր Աստուած:

22 Տէրն ասաց Մովսէսին. «Այսպէս կ՚ասես Յակոբի սերնդին եւ կը հաղորդես Իսրայէլի որդիներին. «Դուք ինքներդ տեսաք, որ ես երկնքից խօսեցի ձեզ հետ:

23 Ձեզ համար ոսկէ ու արծաթէ աստուածներ չպատրաստէք:

24 Ինձ համար հողաշէն զոհասեղան կը պատրաստէք եւ դրա վրայ, ամէն տեղ, ուր կը դնեմ իմ անունը, կը մատուցէք ձեր ողջակէզներն ու ձեր խաղաղութեան զոհերը, ձեր ոչխարներն ու ձեր արջառները: Ես կը գամ քեզ մօտ ու կ՚օրհնեմ քեզ:

25 Իսկ եթէ զոհասեղանը քարից կառուցես, դրա քարերը յղկուած թող չլինեն, որովհետեւ եթէ քո ձեռքի գործիքը դիպցնես դրան, ապա դա պղծուած կը լինի:

26 Իմ զոհասեղանի վրայ աստիճաններով չբարձրանաս, որպէսզի դրա վրայ քո ամօթոյքը չերեւայ»:

8944. In the world it is thought that the human being can recognize from the light of natural evidence alone, that is, without revelation, most of what religion involves, such as the beliefs that there is a God, that He is to be worshipped, and also that He is to be loved, and in addition that a person will be alive after death. and many other beliefs dependent on these. However, those beliefs are the products of self-intelligence. Much experience has taught me that of himself a person knows nothing whatever about Divine realities, or about things belonging to celestial and spiritual life; without revelation he knows nothing about them. For a person is born into the evils of self-love and love of the world, and the nature of these is such that they seal off influx from the heavens and let through influx from the hells. This being so, they blind a person and place him in a negative frame of mind about the reality of the Divine, of heaven and hell, and of life after death. This is plainly evident from the learned people of the world, who through study of different branches of knowledge have developed the inferior light of this natural evidence of theirs to a higher degree than others. As is well known, these more than others deny the Divine, acknowledging natural forces instead. Also, when they speak from what is in their heart and not just from doctrine they deny life after death, also heaven and hell, consequently all things that are matters of faith, which they call bonds for the common people. This makes plain what light received from natural evidence without revelation is like. I have also been shown that in the next life many of those who have written books about natural theology, and from the inferior light of their natural evidence have skillfully substantiated the teachings of their Church, deny those same things at heart more than any others, and also deny the Word itself, which they try to destroy completely. For in the next life people's hearts speak. I have also been shown that those same people are unable to receive anything of the influx from heaven, only that from the hells. All this makes plain what light received from natural evidence, without revelation, is like, and therefore what anything that is a product of self-intelligence is like.

[2] But there are two phenomena that might have placed the mind in doubt so far as this matter is concerned. The first is that people in ancient times who were gentiles nevertheless knew that there is a God, that He is to be worshipped, and that a person as to his soul is immortal. The second is that those things are also known by a large number of nations at the present day among whom no revelation exists. But in the case of the ancients, they did not know those things from the inferior light they received from natural evidence but from revelation that spread from the Church even to them. For the Lord's Church had existed since most ancient times in the land of Canaan, 3686, 4447, 4454, 4516, 4517, 5136, 6516. From there such things as belonged to the worship of God spread to the nations round about and also to the neighbouring Greeks, and from the Greeks to the Italians or Romans. From the Church all these nations received the things they knew about a supreme deity, and about the immortality of the soul, which their learned men wrote about.

[3] As regards the nations at the present day who also know of God's existence and of life after death, they have not come to possess that knowledge from the inferior light they receive from natural evidence. They possess it from their religion which has come down to them from ancient times and which was founded on such things as had spread in various ways from the Church, where revelation existed. This happened in the Lord's Divine Providence. Furthermore those among them who from their religion acknowledge God above all things, and from their religion do what charity requires them to do for their neighbour, on receiving instruction in the next life accept the truths of faith and are saved, 258-2604.

1 God spoke all these words, saying,

2 "I am Yahweh your God, who brought you out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.

3 "You shall have no other gods before me.

4 "You shall not make for yourselves an idol, nor any image of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth:

5 you shall not bow yourself down to them, nor serve them, for I, Yahweh your God, am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers on the children, on the third and on the fourth generation of those who hate me,

6 and showing loving kindness to thousands of those who love me and keep my commandments.

7 "You shall not take the name of Yahweh your God in vain, for Yahweh will not hold him guiltless who takes his name in vain.

8 "Remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy.

9 You shall labor six days, and do all your work,

10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahweh your God. You shall not do any work in it, you, nor your son, nor your daughter, your male servant, nor your female servant, nor your livestock, nor your stranger who is within your gates;

11 for in six days Yahweh made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day; therefore Yahweh blessed the Sabbath day, and made it holy.

12 "Honor your father and your mother, that your days may be long in the land which Yahweh your God gives you.

13 "You shall not murder.

14 "You shall not commit adultery.

15 "You shall not steal.

16 "You shall not give false testimony against your neighbor.

17 "You shall not covet your neighbor's house. You shall not covet your neighbor's wife, nor his male servant, nor his female servant, nor his ox, nor his donkey, nor anything that is your neighbor's."

18 All the people perceived the thunderings, the lightnings, the sound of the trumpet, and the mountain smoking. When the people saw it, they trembled, and stayed at a distance.

19 They said to Moses, "Speak with us yourself, and we will listen; but don't let God Speak with us, lest we die."

20 Moses said to the people, "Don't be afraid, for God has come to test you, and that his fear may be before you, that you won't sin."

21 The people stayed at a distance, and Moses drew near to the thick darkness where God was.

22 Yahweh said to Moses, "This is what you shall tell the children of Israel: 'You yourselves have seen that I have talked with you from heaven.

23 You shall most certainly not make alongside of me gods of silver, or gods of gold for yourselves.

24 You shall make an altar of earth for me, and shall sacrifice on it your burnt offerings and your peace offerings, your sheep and your cattle. In every place where I record my name I will come to you and I will bless you.

25 If you make me an altar of stone, you shall not build it of cut stones; for if you lift up your tool on it, you have polluted it.

26 Neither shall you go up by steps to my altar, that your nakedness may not be exposed to it.'
