خروج第11章

1 ثم قال الرب لموسى ضربة واحدة ايضا اجلب على فرعون وعلى مصر. بعد ذلك يطلقكم من هنا. وعندما يطلقكم يطردكم طردا من هنا بالتمام.

2 تكلم في مسامع الشعب ان يطلب كل رجل من صاحبه وكل امرأة من صاحبتها امتعة فضة وامتعة ذهب.

3 واعطى الرب نعمة للشعب في عيون المصريين. وايضا الرجل موسى كان عظيما جدا في ارض مصر في عيون عبيد فرعون وعيون الشعب

4 وقال موسى هكذا يقول الرب اني نحو نصف الليل اخرج في وسط مصر.

5 فيموت كل بكر في ارض مصر من بكر فرعون الجالس على كرسيه الى بكر الجارية التي خلف الرحى وكل بكر بهيمة.

6 ويكون صراخ عظيم في كل ارض مصر لم يكن مثله ولا يكون مثله ايضا.

7 ولكن جميع بني اسرائيل لا يسنن كلب لسانه اليهم لا الى الناس ولا الى البهائم. لكي تعلموا ان الرب يميّز بين المصريين واسرائيل.

8 فينزل اليّ جميع عبيدك هؤلاء ويسجدون لي قائلين اخرج انت وجميع الشعب الذين في اثرك. وبعد ذلك اخرج. ثم خرج من لدن فرعون في حموّ الغضب

9 وقال الرب لموسى لا يسمع لكما فرعون لكي تكثر عجائبي في ارض مصر.

10 وكان موسى وهرون يفعلان كل هذه العجائب امام فرعون. ولكن شدّد الرب قلب فرعون فلم يطلق بني اسرائيل من ارضه

7796. 'And Moses and Aaron performed all these wonders before Pharaoh' means that these stages of vastation, and the consequent corroborations that they are ruled by evil, were brought about by the truth emanating from God. This is clear from the representation of 'Moses and Aaron' as God's truth, 'Moses' truth that emanates directly from God, and 'Aaron' that which does so indirectly, dealt with in 7010, 7089, 7382; and from the meaning of 'the wonders' performed in Egypt or belonging to the Church who have led an evil life. The fact that those things are depicted by the wonders of Egypt may be recognized from the meaning of each wonder. And for the fact that they also depict corroborations that those people do not have faith but are ruled by evil, see immediately above in 7795. It says that 'Moses and Aaron performed these wonders', when in fact they were not Performed by them but by God. But what happened has been stated in that way because God's truth is represented by 'Moses and Aaron', and the wonders were performed by God through the truth emanating from Himself, since all that God Himself performs is performed through the truth emanating from Him. God Himself is the Being (Esse) of all things, but the truth emanating from Him is the Coming-into-Being (Existere) of all things, which rises out of His Being. Good itself, which is God's Being (Esse), brings forth all things by means of its Truth. It is said that the stages of vastation were brought about by the truth emanating from God; but it should be understood that Divine Truth is not the cause of them since God subjects no one to vastation. Rather, an evil person subjects himself to it through obstinate opposition to God's truth by eliminating, rejecting, or perverting it, and through turning God's goodness, which flows in unceasingly, into evil. This then is what subjects him to vastation; and from this it is evident where the cause of it lies, not in the inflow of goodness and truth from God - for unless they inflow life is non-existent - but in their conversion to evil and falsity, committed by the person who is ruled by evil.

7089. 'And afterwards Moses and Aaron came' means the Divine Law and the teachings derived from it. This is clear from the representation of 'Moses' as the Lord in respect of the Divine Law, dealt with in 6752; and from the representation of 'Aaron' as teachings that present what is good and true, dealt with in 6998. The expression 'Divine Law', which Moses represents, is used to mean the Word as it is in its internal sense, thus as it is in heaven, whereas the expression 'teaching' is used to mean the Word as it is in its literal sense, thus as it is on earth. How great the difference is may be recognized from the explanations given so far that have regard to the internal sense of the Word. Let the Ten Commandments, which specifically are called the Law, be used to illustrate the point. The literal meaning of them is that one should honour one's parents, not kill, commit adultery, or steal, and so on. But the internal sense is that one should worship the Lord, not harbour hatred, falsify what is true, or claim for oneself what is the Lord's. These are the ways in which those four commandments are understood in heaven, and the rest too in their own manner. For in heaven they know no other Father than the Lord; therefore instead of honouring parents they take the commandment to mean that the Lord should be worshipped. In heaven they do not know what it is to kill, for they live for ever; but instead of killing they understand harbouring hatred and harming another person's spiritual life. Nor in heaven do they know what it is to commit adultery; consequently they perceive instead what corresponds to that prohibition - being forbidden to falsify what is true. And instead of stealing they take the prohibition to mean that one should not take away from the Lord anything such as goodness and truth and claim it as one's own.

[2] This is what the Law and also the whole of the Word is like in heaven, and so what it is like in its internal sense. Indeed it is far more profound, for most of what they think and say in heaven cannot find expression in the words of human speech, because they are in the spiritual world, not the natural world, and things belonging to the spiritual world are as greatly superior to those belonging to the natural world as non-material things are to material. Yet because material things nevertheless correspond to them, material things can be used to disclose them. That is, natural speech can be used but not spiritual, for spiritual speech does not consist of material words but of spiritual words. And spiritual words consist of ideas that are converted into words in the spiritual atmosphere, and are represented by variegations of heavenly light, heavenly light being in itself nothing other than Divine intelligence and wisdom radiating from the Lord. All this shows what is meant by the Divine Law in its genuine sense, which 'Moses' represents, and what is meant by teaching, which 'Aaron' represents.
