1
To the victor; a maskil* of◦ David, 2 when Doeg the Edomite came and told Saul, and said to him, David has come to▵ the house of Ahimelech.
3 How dost thou praise thyself in evil, O mighty one?
The mercy of God◦ is all the day.
2
4 Thy tongue thinks calamities;
as a whetted◦ razor◦, doing deceitfully.
3
5 Thou lovest evil more··than good;
falsity more··than speaking justice. Selah.
4
6 Thou lovest all the words of swallowing··up,
O tongue of deceit.
5
7 God◦ also will tear· thee ·down perpetually,
He will take· thee ·away, and pluck· thee ·out from the Tabernacle,
and root· thee ·out from the land of the living. Selah.
6
8 And the just shall see, and fear,
and shall laugh over him.
7
9 behold, the mighty··man,
he set not God as his stronghold,
but trusted in the multitude of his riches;
he became··strong in his calamities.
8
10 But I◦ shall be as a green olive··tree in the house of God;
I trust in the mercy of God to eternity and forever.
9
11 I will confess Thee to eternity, for Thou hast done it;
and I will wait··on Thy name, for it is good in··the··presence··of Thy merciful ones.
