Daniel 8

Სწავლა

1 In the third year of the kingdom of king Belshazzar a vision appeared to me, to me Daniel, after that which appeared to me in the beginning.

2 And I saw in a vision, and it was, when I saw, that I was at Shushan in the palace, which is in the province Elam; and I saw in a vision, and I was by the River Ulai.

3 And I lifted my eyes and saw, and, behold, one ram stood before the river, and it had two··horns; and the two··horns were tall; but the one was taller than the second, and the taller one came··up afterwards.

4 I saw the ram charging··out westward, and northward, and southward; and all animals stood not before him, and none could rescue from his hand; but he did according··to his good··pleasure, and became··great.

5 And I was understanding, and behold, a he-goat of the goats came from the sunset on the faces of all the earth, and touched not on the earth; and the he-goat had a horn to··behold between his eyes.

6 And he came to the ram, the owner* of two··horns, which I had seen standing before the river, and ran to him in the fury of his power.

7 And I saw him reaching beside the ram, and he was made··bitter toward him, and smote the ram, and broke his two horns; and there was no power in the ram to stand before him, but he cast him down toward the earth, and trampled him, and there was none to rescue the ram from his hand.

8 And the he-goat of the goats became· very ·great; and as he was strong, the great horn was broken; and instead··of it came··up four horns to··behold to the four winds of the heavens.

9 And from one of them came··out a little horn, and it became· exceedingly ·great, toward the south, and toward the sunrise, and toward the elegance.

10 And it became··great, even··to the army of the heavens; and it made some of the army and of the stars fall toward the earth, and trampled them.

11 And it magnified itself even··to the Prince of the army, and by Him the continual offering was lifted··up away, and the establishment of His sanctuary was cast down.

12 And an army was given over upon the continual offering into transgression, because it cast the truth to the earth; and so it did, and it prospered.

13 And I heard one holy··one speaking, and one other holy··one said to that certain holy··one who spoke, How long shall be the vision concerning the continual offering, and the transgression of desolation, to give both the sanctuary and the army to be trampled?

14 And he said to me, Even··to evening when it becomes morning, two··thousand and three hundred; and the sanctuary shall be made··just.

15 And it was, when I Daniel saw the vision, that I sought understanding, and behold, there was standing in··front··of me as the appearance of a mighty··man.

16 And I heard the voice of man* between the banks of Ulai, and it called and said, Gabriel, make yonder man to understand the vision.

17 And he came beside where· I ·stood; and when he came, it alarmed me, and I fell on my face; but he said to me, Understand, O son of man, for at the time of the end shall be the vision.

18 And when he spoke with me, I was··in··a··deep··sleep on my face toward the earth; but he touched me, and caused me to stand, standing me up.

19 And he said, Behold, I will make thee know what shall be in the uttermost··part of the indignation; for at the time··appointed the end shall be.

20 The ram which thou sawest, the owner* of two··horns, are the kings of Media and Persia.

21 And the hairy he-goat is the king of Javan*; and the great horn that is between his eyes, he is the first king.

22 And she shall be broken, and four shall stand instead··of her; four kingdoms out··of the nation shall stand, but not in its power.

23 And in the last times of their kingdom, when the transgressors reach··their··height, a king of strong faces, and understanding enigmas, shall stand.

24 And his power shall be numerous, but not by his own power; and he shall destroy wonders, and shall prosper, and do, and shall destroy the numerous and the people of the holy··ones.

25 And on··account··of his intelligence he shall make deceit prosper in his hand; and he shall magnify himself in his heart, and by tranquility shall destroy many; and he shall stand against the Prince of princes; but with no hand he shall be broken.

26 And the vision of the evening and the morning which was said, it is true; and block· thou ·off the vision, for it shall be for many days.

27 And I, Daniel, became and was··sick for days; and afterward I arose, and did the business of the king; and I was··astonished over the sight, but none understood it.

Holy

Seven alter lamps in stained glass, Bryn Athyn Cathedral

The Bible describes many things as being holy, or sacred. The Ark of the Covenant is one very holy object. The inmost chamber of the tabernacle is called the "Holy of Holies". Things that proceed from the Lord are holy. Objects are holy if they contain something, or represent something, from the Lord. For that reason, the names of the Lord in human languages are holy because they represent qualities of the Lord, things that are Him. The Bible is holy because it contains, interiorly, the Lord's divine truth. The tabernacle of Israel was holy -- not because of the wood or gold or dyed cloth -- but because those things represented qualities that the Lord has. Those same qualities exist, as in an image, in the spiritual states of people who follow the Lord's laws. No person is holy, but if a person's mind contains truth from the Lord and his or her will comes to love the truths and the actions that these truths suggest to him, then his or her mind will contain holy things, because those truths and loves come from the Lord. These things become that person's life and they remain with that person in heaven, after death.

Exodus 15

Სწავლა

1 Then Moses and the children of Israel sang this song to Yahweh, and said, "I will sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea.

2 Yah is my strength and song. He has become my salvation. This is my God, and I will praise him; my father's God, and I will exalt him.

3 Yahweh is a man of war. Yahweh is his name.

4 He has cast Pharaoh's chariots and his army into the sea. His chosen captains are sunk in the Red Sea.

5 The deeps cover them. They went down into the depths like a stone.

6 Your right hand, Yahweh, is glorious in power. Your right hand, Yahweh, dashes the enemy in pieces.

7 In the greatness of your excellency, you overthrow those who rise up against you. You send forth your wrath. It consumes them as stubble.

8 With the blast of your nostrils, the waters were piled up. The floods stood upright as a heap. The deeps were congealed in the heart of the sea.

9 The enemy said, 'I will pursue. I will overtake. I will divide the spoil. My desire shall be satisfied on them. I will draw my sword, my hand shall destroy them.'

10 You blew with your wind. The sea covered them. They sank like lead in the mighty waters.

11 Who is like you, Yahweh, among the gods? Who is like you, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders?

12 You stretched out your right hand. The earth swallowed them.

13 "You, in your loving kindness, have led the people that you have redeemed. You have guided them in your strength to your holy habitation.

14 The peoples have heard. They tremble. Pangs have taken hold on the inhabitants of Philistia.

15 Then the chiefs of Edom were dismayed. Trembling takes hold of the mighty men of Moab. All the inhabitants of Canaan are melted away.

16 Terror and dread falls on them. By the greatness of your arm they are as still as a stone-- until your people pass over, Yahweh, until the people pass over who you have purchased.

17 You shall bring them in, and plant them in the mountain of your inheritance, the place, Yahweh, which you have made for yourself to dwell in; the sanctuary, Lord, which your hands have established.

18 Yahweh shall reign forever and ever."

19 For the horses of Pharaoh went in with his chariots and with his horsemen into the sea, and Yahweh brought back the waters of the sea on them; but the children of Israel walked on dry land in the midst of the sea.

20 Miriam the prophetess, the sister of Aaron, took a tambourine in her hand; and all the women went out after her with tambourines and with dances.

21 Miriam answered them, "Sing to Yahweh, for he has triumphed gloriously. The horse and his rider he has thrown into the sea."

22 Moses led Israel onward from the Red Sea, and they went out into the wilderness of Shur; and they went three days in the wilderness, and found no water.

23 When they came to Marah, they couldn't drink from the waters of Marah, for they were bitter. Therefore its name was called Marah.

24 The people murmured against Moses, saying, "What shall we drink?"

25 Then he cried to Yahweh. Yahweh showed him a tree, and he threw it into the waters, and the waters were made sweet. There he made a statute and an ordinance for them, and there he tested them;

26 and he said, "If you will diligently listen to the voice of Yahweh your God, and will do that which is right in his eyes, and will pay attention to his commandments, and keep all his statutes, I will put none of the diseases on you, which I have put on the Egyptians; for I am Yahweh who heals you."

27 They came to Elim, where there were twelve springs of water, and seventy palm trees: and they encamped there by the waters.
