Leviticus 6

Studie

5:20 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

5:21 If a soul sin, and trespass a trespass against Jehovah, and deceive his fellow··man in what was deposited or in what··was··set in his hand, or in what was taken··by··robbery, or have oppressed his fellow··man,

5:22 or have found what was lost, and deceive in it, and promise falsely concerning any one from all of these which man does to sin;

5:23 then it shall be, that he has sinned and is··guilty, and he shall return what was taken··by··robbery that he took··by··robbery, or the oppression that he has oppressed, or the deposit that was deposited with him, or what is lost that he has found,

5:24 or from all concerning which he has promised falsely; and he shall repay it in its principal, and shall add its fifth part on it, and give it to him to whom it is, in the day of his guilt offering.

5:25 And he shall bring his guilt offering to Jehovah, a perfect ram out··of the flock, with thy value, for a guilt offering, to the priest;

5:26 and the priest shall make··atonement on· his ·account before Jehovah; and it shall be pardoned to him concerning each one from all that he has done for the guilt in it.

1 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

2 Command Aaron and his sons, saying, This is the law of the burnt··offering; It is the burnt··offering, on··account··of the burning upon the altar all the night until the morning, and the fire of the altar shall be burning in it.

3 And the priest shall clothe· himself ·with his linen robe, and with linen breeches shall he clothe himself on his flesh, and lift··up the burnt fatness which the fire has eaten with the burnt··offering on the altar, and he shall set it beside the altar.

4 And he shall strip··off his garments, and clothe· himself ·with other garments, and bring··out the burnt fatness to outside the camp to a clean place.

5 And the fire on the altar shall be burning in it; it shall not be quenched; and the priest shall burn wood on it in the morning by the morning, and arrange the burnt··offering upon it; and he shall burn··for··incense upon it the fat of the peace··offerings.

6 The fire shall continually be burning on the altar; it shall not be··quenched.

7 And this is the law of the gift··offering; the sons of Aaron shall offer it before Jehovah, before the altar.

8 And he shall lift··high his handful from it, from the flour of the gift··offering, and of its oil, and all the frankincense which is upon the gift··offering, and shall burn· it ·for··incense upon the altar for a restful smell, even the memorial of it, to Jehovah.

9 And the remainder of it shall Aaron and his sons eat; with unleavened bread shall it be eaten in the holy place; in the court of the Tabernacle of the congregation they shall eat it.

10 It shall not be baked with leaven. I have given it to them for their part of My fire··offerings; it is a holy of holies, as is the sin offering, and as the guilt offering.

11 All the males among the sons of Aaron shall eat of it. It shall be a statute of eternity to your generations concerning the fire··offerings of Jehovah; everyone that touches them shall be··holy.

12 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

13 This is the offering of Aaron and of his sons, which they shall offer to Jehovah in the day when he is anointed; the tenth part of an ephah of flour for a gift··offering continually, half of it in the morning, and half of it in the evening.

14 On a griddle it shall be made with oil; bubbling thou shalt bring it; the baked morsels of the gift··offering shalt thou offer for a restful smell to Jehovah.

15 And the priest of his sons anointed in· his ·stead shall make it; it is a statute of eternity to Jehovah; all of it shall be burnt··for··incense.

16 For all of the gift··offering for the priest shall be burnt; it shall not be eaten.

17 And Jehovah spoke to Moses, saying,

18 Speak to Aaron and to his sons, saying, This is the law of the sin offering; in the place where the burnt··offering is slaughtered shall the sin offering be slaughtered before Jehovah: it is a holy of holies.

19 The priest that offers it for sin shall eat it; in the holy place shall it be eaten, in the court of the Tabernacle of the congregation.

20 All that shall touch its flesh shall be··holy; and what is spattered of its blood on the garment, thou shalt wash what was spattered on in the holy place.

21 But the pottery vessel in which it is cooked shall be broken; and if it be cooked in a vessel of bronze, it shall be both scoured, and rinsed with water.

22 All the males among the priests shall eat of it; it is a holy of holies.

23 And all the sin offering, of which any of the blood is brought into the Tabernacle of the congregation to make··atonement withal in the holy place, shall not be eaten; it shall be burnt··up in the fire.

Court

In 1 Kings 7:5, this signifies perfection or the complete equality of what is just and what is perfect. (Arcana Coelestia 8917)

In Revelation 21:16, this signifies that in the Holy City, the New Jerusalem, the good of the church will be equal to its truth, and so justice will prevail. (Apocalypse Revealed 905) The court of the tabernacle (Exodus 27:9 and other places) signifies the external of heaven, or the first, which is also called the ultimate heaven.

8890. 'You shall not do any work - you, nor your son, nor your daughter; your male slave, nor your female slave, nor your beast, nor your sojourner who is within your gates' means that at that time heaven and its blessedness are present in every single part of a person inwardly and outwardly. This is clear from the meaning of 'not doing any work' as rest and peace, thus heaven, for when a person is in heaven he is free from all apprehensiveness, uneasiness, and anxiety, and when free from these, blessedness is his; and from the meaning of 'you, your son, your daughter, your male slave, your female slave, your beast, and the sojourner within your gates' as every single part of a person inwardly and outwardly. For 'you' means the person himself, 'son' means his understanding, and 'daughter' his will, both of which reside in his internal man. 'Male slave' means his natural in respect of truth, and 'female slave' his natural in respect of good, thus both as they reside in his external man, while 'beast' means affection in general, and 'sojourner within the gates' factual knowledge in general. Thus every single part is meant. 'Son' means his understanding here because 'son' means truth, and truths constitute the understanding; and 'daughter' means his will because 'daughter' means good, and forms of good constitute the will. For the meaning of 'son' as truth, and so the understanding, see 489, 491, 533, 1147, 2623, 2803, 2813, 3373, 3704, 4257; for 'daughter' as good, and so the will, 489-491, 2362, 3024; for 'male slave' as the natural in respect of truth, 3019, 3020, 3409, 5305, 7998; for 'female slave' as the natural in respect of good, 2567, 3835, 3849; for 'beast' as affection in general, 45, 46, 142, 143, 246, 714, 715, 2179, 2180, 3218, 5198, 7523, 7872; and for 'sojourner' as one who receives instruction in the Church's truths, 1463, 4444, 8007, 8013, so that 'the sojourner within your gates' is factual knowledge in general, since factual knowledge in general lies within the gates, that is, at the entrance to the truths the Church possesses.
